Oh I didn't mean to suggest that it wouldn't be the right term, I think it is. I was only happy to have learnt a new word. I celebrate little moments like that, and find English particularly funny in its many spellings of the same or similar spoken sound and the many ways to pronounce words that are spelt identically. Fascinating stuff, homonyms and homographs. I know I sound brainy when I say that, but I had to look the terms up. Incidentally there's a column in the Economist that I like a lot about language, and not only about English. I usually read it after the obituary, which I always read first.

I like Leo btw, I use it frequently on my phone to try to understand what my wife says :D It's usually correct, and when it isn't, I'm always at fault lol.

Philip, I just take what my go to online dictionary  dishes out... btw, I think it´s quite good: https://dict.leo.org/englisch-deutsch/Raureif

At least for my level of school english. The general problem for the non native speakers like me is the context, the field, or the habitat where certain words are living. While  I'm quite good at this in german, I'm aware that I'm missing the spot quite often in English. So perhaps we have to agree on "Broken English" to be the least common nominator ?  😊

Nice one Martin.

The Pacific Nautilus has been a favourite of mine too. Have photographed countless times in all formats and made many prints...all in b&w. They are a fantastic study, with their forms and light plays.

Which reminds me i must do some more... ;)

More please, if you have them.
