James,

Very nice and I really like the light leaks.

Have you thought trying to add these to the WikiLeaks website?  :D

Pete.

Great idea, though I don't know how the digital natives I suppose behind this website will cope with material from the analog era...

Wonderful, thanks Chris. I have now added 'knolling' to the image's tags.

This one is great James.

Thanks :)

Thanks, Philip.  I hope James will like it as well since it reads left to right  ;)

I do! Wonderful picture with the fog giving the impression of weightlessness.

Hi Neill, good to see you back :) I have the impression, that the white balance in your M6 shots is slightly off. I made a quick adjustment, just as a suggestion. If you agree, I could post it here for comparison reasons. Like your tea shot a lot!

Sure show me what you've got

Steve - It sounds like you have some perfectionist qualities and I am sure these qualities have helped make you very successful in your life.  But when it comes to photography it is no fun standing on the sidelines and sometimes you just have to shoot shoot and then shoot some more and not think so much.   Let your mind flow in a perfectly random fashion and make stuff up to shoot that is interesting to YOU - not following any particular genre or convention but rather just following your instincts of what looks interesting to you in the moment.  I'll bet that when you look at your results there will of course be a bunch of stupid shots but then there will be some frames where you will say "hey, that actually looks kinda cool!"  And you will be surprised that the composition or subject fell into the frame the way it did and you may not have fully visualized it all due to the lack of perfect translation of what you see through the VF and what ends up on the negative.

I often will get myself warmed up by just forcing myself to click the shutter - towards people and things I see (I'm talking about on the street, not on my tripod, which is a different workflow).  I find that when I am in a rhythm of just shooting first and asking myself questions (i.e., is my focus right, is the person placed properly in the frame, is the person the proper distance from me, etc) later I will come home with more photos that are interesting to me.   When I am hesitant b/c things don't fall into place exactly the way I want I end up losing shots - and I kick myself and remind myself to just shoot - worst case I lose 25 cents!!

Your "Point of Departure" (a new one for me) should be the closest ledge - just jump!

That is SO RIGHT! There is a book called

Art & Fear: Observations on the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking

I have bought, and given away, so many copies. It should be read annually be photographers. And it is true, the more photographs you take the better you become. And having the goal of taking A1* pictures just inhibits one.
