Such a MASSIVE loss to this forum - one of the very best photographers that we had and it was very shortsighted to let him go and not be able to just accept that we all have different views and that the LUF is just a microcosm of many views and that to be a discussion forum EVERY view must be heard. I was banned for three weeks for expressing an opinion in the COVID thread and now I won't get involved with Barnacks Bar discussions as it's just not worth the hassle. I was upset and still am about the way that I was treat and Adam and I discussed it and he told me that he was going to leave. I thought about doing the same and almost did but after thinking about it and calming down I came to accept that the LUF is bigger than Barnacks Bar and I am never going to agree with some members who have the ear of or are moderators, so it's no point in trying anymore. I will post there but I will never be involved in expressing any opinion any more. As you say though Christopher, Adam Miller is a superb photographer - I honestly thought that he was a professional in New York but in fact he is a Lawyer by profession. Big loss to the LUF. Paul, many thanks for your photos, which are an inspiration to me for their subject matter (including your various series of people/portaits and this current West Riding architectural heritage series) tonality, and choice of angle, and for your accompanying texts. Let me express my appreciation as well for your opinions and the forthright way you express them. Do you follow Chris McGlade by any chance? For instance: Paul, like Adam, is a fantastic photographer. I look forward to Paul's postings and I'm so very deeply sorry we don't have Adam's any more But John, you've turned this thread on film, which was touching on questions of why Adam is gone and why Paul also was considering it, toward a direction that is purely political. It just doesn't belong here. Edited June 28, 2020 by bags27 1

I had no press accreditation and security were all over the Royal County Hotel Foyer. I had been working in the crowd in Old Elvet and I saw "King" Arthur Scargill on the balcony of the hotel. I knew that if I asked to go up there would be no way that they would let me in. The great thing about Leica's is that being small you can hide them and even if seen to most people they don't look like a pro camera. I kept one M6 around my neck and fastened my jacket over it and the other one I placed in a jacket pocket. In the hotel foyer I was stopped by security but I said I was a guest at the hotel and just needed to go back to my room as I had forgotten to take my medication for the day and I was starting to feel unwell. On saying this they immediately let me through and I just walked upstairs to the balcony and snapped Arthur with a Leica M6 with 21mm lens. Sorry but you have to be devious and at this time I was a press snapper and although this was a "Labour of Love" for myself, I still had to use the techniques that I used in the day job. Press photography is yes about seeing and taking pictures BUT you have to be able to get into a situation in the first place - that is how it is. Film was Kodak TRI-X developed 1+1in D76. Popular Post fotomas Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Share #70009 Posted June 28, 2020 Some more S-Bahn stuff. Here a train heading to Frohnau just arrived at Berlin Gesundbrunnen in December 1982. In those days there where only rather few passengers on the S-Bahn, as you can see. After the building of the Berlin wall there was an boycott on the S-Bahn in West-Berlin since it was run by the GDR. Even 21 years later there are still minor people using the S-Bahn. Hard to imagine if you visit Gesundbrunnen today. In the middle of the platform there are the closed stairways that lead to the other former platforms that are closed and out of action. Popular Post fotomas Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Share #70010 Posted June 28, 2020 Her you can see the closed platforms in 1982. Always trying to do what's right and not what's convenient or self serving. What a shower of politicians we seem to have in the main. Pete
