Thanks for the tip, I assume you mean this one...

Amazon.com: Voigtlander Metal Brightline Viewfinder for the 35mm Lens, Black.: Camera & Photo

I might do that since it's not as bulky or ugly. Will miss manual focus sometimes but for that I can just use the screen.

Yep, that's the one. The lens on RX1 is apparently a little wider than 35mm, so there will be a little "air" in your shots as you go away from the minimum focus distance, but Leica users are used to that. I've read that some use the Voigtlander 28mm OVF, instead, but I haven't tried it.

The rear LCD is so great, with great viewing angles, that it isn't that bad to use with MF, which I occasionally do.

With the center AF point and Voigtlander OVF, just spend a little time learning how the focus point are moves down a bit as the subject gets closer, and you'll get pretty accurate.

Leica.com has opened the block box a little more.

It's clearly different from the previous (slow zoom 28-70mm) rumer.

It's interesting that the rear ring of the lens is larger than its front. I take it's a sign of a retractable lens. I guess this implies it has a large zoom ratio.

I hope it's APS-H, not APS-C After all it will have a high price tag anyway. A little bigger sensor than would make it stand out to be "Mini" i front of the APS-C "micro M".

Just checked and the box image is the same as it was when they updated it the other day. It's the same lens as the original France rumor source and we now have multiple sources to back it up. The lens is not retractable. It just looks that way when you view it head on. Other images were a side/angle view.

Just checked and it's the same as before, box was opened more up days ago. It's identical to the france rumor. It is NOT retractable, it only looks that way as your seeing the lens head on now. It's the same lens.

The lens in France rumer looks to me as almost a straight cylinder up to 3/4 of its length, only the front portion is smaller. Quite different from Leica's web site. Thats why I think France rumer is fake and that's why I think it's a retractable lens.

Anyway, I'm trying to play Sherlock Holm. We'll wait more and see.

Image of the real Leica Mini M...sources with no connection to Leica said that the Mini M used a revolutionary removable sensor, which could changed at will to either a dedicated colour or black and white sensor or varying ISO. The Mini M was only 2 thirds the size and weight of the M, but could create images just as good as the M. Sources excitedly said the new Mini M was built to the exacting standards of the 1950s hand-made Leica cameras. Best of all, the price was set at only US$1,000, undercutting all the competition by a substantial margin.

Yes. Santa Claus is real, NASA faked the moon landing, the Easter Bunny brings the candy, and the Leica Vario X (Type 107) might really be a FF or super sized APS with AF collapsing F1.4-2.8 28-90 or 100 or he'll, why not 600mm zoom that might or might not detach and take M lenses.

Anyone else thinking June 11th can't come fast enough and all these threads can go to the X section, or is it just me?

Now THAT is a camera to get excited about!

Guys, the RX1 EVF is great. I recommend it over all the optical ones.

The RX1 was an experiment by Sony. It wasn't built down to a price. Sony engineers were told to build the smallest FF camera they could with the best components.

Sony then priced it appropriately, to make their standard margin.

The accessories are a bit overpriced but after using this camera for some months Sony can do no wrong in my eyes

BTW it was only £50 for a charger and spare battery kit from amazon.de.

I am using a JJC metal lens hood.

and hoya pro filter (B+W filters don't fit under hood as the rim is too thick).

It isn't sure it has an EVF, but is sure that there is the way to overcome its absence... :p

In my opinion the photo of the "Mini" "M" contains a silver ring behind the lens which is for me a hint for a interchangeable lens. No aperture dial and zoom means a new class of M lens. Or Leica has two cameras in the bag one X and one mini M.

But saying a mini M is on the way and to offer a camera without on M mount is simply ridiculous.

A silver ring? Sounds rather mythological. Perhaps the camera will magically disappear! I think one has to be rather, ahem, prone to wishful thinking to presuppose "Mini M" means an M camera when Leica called the X2 Micro M and the D-Lux Nano M. It may still have an M mount. Then again, maybe not. Four days to go.

Stumbled over this from our friend Jono ... sample photos from the new camera

"I've spent some time with Paula (the Leica internal name for the new camera). Sadly I can't tell you any more about the camera itself until next week, when I'll write about it in a little more depth."

One UK Leica dealer has announced:

A Leica Mini Week

June 12th to June 15th

"Cameras will be in-store Wednesday 12th June

for Demonstration and Sales

Come and find out what all the fuss is about"

... note 'cameras' and not 'camera'
