I just ordered the 50 APO from a U.S. dealer! I was going to call my favorite shop tomorrow to put my name on a waiting list, but suddenly the lens was in stock and available. So, it is landing in the U.S. market.

Had mine for a few months now and it has not come off the MM - just wonderful - not one to make outlandish comments but this combination is in my opinion the best one can get for B&W in 35mm format. Portraits are a dream, sharpness across the frame is astounding and weight and balance just perfect. In NY last week on the street and felt like it was made for it. You are going to love it and worth every cent....

Mine appears tomorrow .... exactly to the day as Leica promised to my dealer ..... so they must now have a regular reliable production line ......

Hi, when did you place your order? I'm thinking about one and wonder how long the wait is likely to be, or more precisely how fair in advance of needing it should I order. Thanks.

.... do you really want to be that depressed ....

..... 3/3/13 ...... and I have been first on my dealers list since that date ..... although there has been almost a 6 month hiatus whilst the flare problem has been investigated and fixed ....

Very helpfully I had a phone call 3 hours later from the same dealer to say my Leica T, lenses and extras had arrived in the same box ......

...... we will be living on baked beans for the next few months ..... :o

I ordered one of the lenses in question at the end of last year and it arrived at the end of May. It's absolutely wonderful but doesn't want to discorporate (leave the body). My other lenses are becoming fretful.

My new 50 APO (post recall version) must go back to Leica. The focusing mechanism is a bit rough, and apparently may need some more lubrication. Not amused.

Interesting you say that as the one I use has recently shown its stubborn sides in this same respect.

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?

My 50 APO has also a quite stiff focusing ring, but I guess that's the penalty we have to pay for the floating element part, The same is true for the 50 Summilux- a lot of users have complained of stiff focusing.

The focusing is a little stiff, especially in the near range where the floating element has to move. It's not bad just there's a noticeable different with the v5 summicron. Then again there's a lot more glass in there.

Well...no. My (pre-recall) version of this lens is just pleasantly firm to focus, certainly no more "stiff" than my 35Lux.

I would definitely notice if it were as I have a somewhat compromised left hand and so I am very aware of sticky focussing rings and of very fat lenses,

for instance I find the 0.95 Noctilux a bit of a chore to focus as it is so rotund.
