I know this is something that's been covered but I though that asking here in the presence of truly dedicated users of these camera I might get some better insight:

What if anything might you see different using the LC-1 vs. the D2? I'd like to shoot jpeg and likely to use B&W mode about half of the time. Some color work though, but I truly dislike post processing so I'd rather shoot jpeg and just make minor tweaks to print.

Any thoughts?

Jim

Here you go: Leica Digilux 2 / Panasonic DMC LC1 -

BTW... I shot with my Digilux 2 with the White Balance setting in B&W mode yesterday... stunning results (as always). It's so nice to SEE in black and white when you're shooting in black and white.

Thanks for the link John! Lovely pics as well.

I know what you mean about being able to see in B&W....I just got my LX-5 yesterday and I'm loving it so far. I can go from 3:2 in color for snaps to 1:1 and B&W in two switch flicks. Really cool. I have a huge weakness for the Red Dot but the price difference is too much to ignore right now financially. I know the pics will be awesome either way.

John T. still has the magic :p

Ian . . . I may nitpick over your cropping, but that's a heck of "snapshot" !

Agreed.

John's tryptic is a masterclass in shooting sunsets over water. Impressive indeed.

Ian's shot is also wonderful - the kind of mood/atmosphere I like.

Ah sorry about that. I tried linking to a photo from my twitter feed. It obviously doesn't like it. Let me re-try:

A wonderfully natural picture of your exuberant little granddaughter!

Hi,

I decided to attempt some macro photography with the D2 on a walk last week. Unable to find or afford the Elpro I recently bought a Canon 250D 58mm macro lens. (attached to the D2 with step down rings)

I need more practise, and if the weather improves I should be able to get out on the fells and take more shots. Looking forward to winter and spring for inspiration.

Really envy the weather and views John Thawley enjoys !

All shots hand held.

A couple more when I was giving a photography lesson the other day. The interesting thing is my client was shooting RAW with a Canon 40D.

We the files together the following day. I've now compared the Canon and Leica photos side by side and the little Leica stands up extremely well!

I've teaching a portrait class tomorrow and my Leica will be coming along. Looking forward to seeing how it copes.

If anyone's looking for an Elpro-D to use with their D2 there's one for sale at a reasonable price (imho) at Red Dot Cameras here.

(NB Red Dot Cameras advertises on this website, which helps to keep it free, and has also sponsored the One Challenge for the past 2 years so I think it's okay to give them a gentle plug.:))

I saw one go on the bay for $788.50 last week. SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY EIGHT dollars AND fifty cents.

I want one, but I want one that cost less than the camera...
