StephenPatterson Posted December 7, 2013 Share #83 Posted December 7, 2013 Leica M @ $28 Nice to see that these are becoming available, but interesting that there are two sizes offered, 12mm and 12.5mm. Is the red dot on the M240 charger larger than the one on the camera?
guy Posted December 12, 2013 Share #84 Posted December 12, 2013 Nothing to do with being "stealth", it's just something fun. Considering what Leica has done over the decades with the Nexus versions, Safari versions, Hermes Limited Editions my addition of a little black dot (which was a present from the very nice gentleman in Singapore) seems pretty reserved. At the end of the day it's just a way of personalizing my camera, which makes me happy as I tend to have it with me more than not. Completely agree. I love making things a bit more "my own" – that's part of the fun. Buy a guitar, add some mods! Buy a camera, change the dot! Hell, I even bought one of these Welcome, dear visitor! Rick Posted December 12, 2013 Share #85 Posted December 12, 2013 If you... maybe Leica is not for you. Hey Stephen, aren't I guilty of pulling this on you once?:p:D
mirekti Posted December 31, 2013 Share #86 Posted December 31, 2013 It's now available here http://www.fotopia.com.hk/?full#!product/showAjax/1246 Do you think this is Leica official black logo or it's repainted red? At DAG, one can get a red one for $28. I doubt Leica would charge extra$40 for black version. It's not like Jony redesigned it ;-)
AlanJW Posted December 31, 2013 Share #87 Posted December 31, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's now available here Leica Rangefinder Camera Specialist - Fotopia Gallery & Camera EquipmentDo you think this is Leica official black logo or it's repainted red? At DAG, one can get a red one for $28. I doubt Leica would charge extra$40 for black version. It's not like Jony redesigned it ;-) For $58 for a black one I will have to live with red a little longer. Here's the thing: when you are using the camera, looking through the viewfinder (or the EVF) you do not see the dot, whether red or black.
mirekti Posted December 31, 2013 Share #88 Posted December 31, 2013 ...it's $71 if you buy it from the US.

Jeff S Posted January 14, 2014 Share #97 Posted January 14, 2014 Got a black dot from DAG today and put it on my black M. I have always kept my M's stock (no accessories, cases, etc.), but just happen to like the black dot. Did the same on a silver M8.2. Don uses standard M red dots and paints them himself, with his usual quality control. Leica will probably charge an extra $1000 for a cosmetically tweaked M at some point. I like the $40 version. earleygallery Posted January 14, 2014 Share #99 Posted January 14, 2014 I bet if Leica just fitted a chrome or black blanking plate to the M, everyone would be searching for red dots to fit instead.
