bill Posted March 4, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I feel another competition coming on. After the growing success of The One Challenge, I think it is about time we had another "Challenge" to get those creative juices flowing. I have been inspired in this by the surprising number of people here using and enjoying LTM ("Barnack") Leicas. Here's the idea, in outline: A seven-day period to shoot a roll of film (preferably black & white) using an LTM Leica. Any lens is permissable - this means that you can shoot using any screwmount lens (Leica, Voigtlander, Canon, etc.) from the past 70-odd years. Select your best shot and post it on a single thread set up for the purpose by a given date. Votes are collected "in the usual way" (3 points for top, 2 points for second, 1 point for third choice) The theme is set by (in the first instance) me. Subsequent themes are selected by the previous winner. I have a first theme in mind, but I shall keep it to myself until I have gauged the level of interest for this. Suggest we run it once a season, just for the fun of it, so the first one would kick-off on the 21st of March (Spring). I think it would be good if themes chosen played to the strengths of the screwmount Leicas - small size, discretion, speed of use, short focal lengths, etc. Who's up for it? Sign up below. earleygallery Posted March 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 4, 2007 Nice one Give those that need it an excuse to exercise their LTM's!
stuny Posted March 4, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 4, 2007 Bill - A terrific idea that I would participate in if I had an LTM. Best of luck getting it rolling.
harmsr Posted March 5, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 5, 2007 Bill, Count me in. Great idea. Ray
farnz Posted March 5, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 5, 2007 Bill, Great idea! Now, if LTM stood for Leica Tripod Mount I could participate. Sadly I will be unable to take part but will view the results with interest. Pete.

cardinal Posted March 5, 2007 Share #7 Posted March 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm in too. Does the Leica O series count as LTM?
luigi bertolotti Posted March 5, 2007 Share #8 Posted March 5, 2007 Good idea ! I am in, provided the subject is not too exoteric...
Michael-IIIf Posted March 5, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 5, 2007 Count me in!!! I'll be travelling during those dates and won't have access to my chemicals but I guess that means I could use a high street lab and get a CD. Haven't done that for years Great idea. square_one Posted March 5, 2007 Share #11 Posted March 5, 2007 In as well if, as Bill C asks, the humble, headless, threadless O is allowed. Bruce
octo Posted March 5, 2007 Share #12 Posted March 5, 2007 Bill, Thanks for coming up with such 'challenging' ideas. Count me in, and I'll try and post something this time, not like my shameful declaration for the 1st of January and I didn't post anything simply because the 2 shots I took were so bland and uninteresting. bill Posted March 5, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted March 5, 2007 Great response so far chaps - that's ten in less than 24 hours, and yes, it would be churlish and unreasonable of me not to include/allow the 'O' Series. Come on you Fondlers! They are for using not admiring! Regards, Bill

kdemas Posted March 5, 2007 Share #15 Posted March 5, 2007 If the "O" is in I am in as well! Good stuff, should be fun. Kent
ejd Posted March 5, 2007 Share #16 Posted March 5, 2007 Bill, and everyone, I'll be very happy to join you all, and take up the new challenge! I was determined to stick to Ms only. But, having heard James Earley and Michael Boylan go on and on (and on.... ) about the joys and wonders of their IIIAs and IIIFs and whatnot, I finally gave in. There are other guilty parties, but I blame these two mainly. So now I have one or two or....hrmm. Anyway, the IIIG is too shiny and unblemished for the rough and tumble, but the ratty old IIIC with a previous owner's initials scratched into the top-plate is a user, as is the Jupiter 8 orphaned from a wayward Zorki. So I look forward to it! All the best, John
