Her vice is handbags, the purchases of which I fully support.

My wife loves me very much.

:):):)

I think it's ludicrous that a leather sack with a bit of metal furniture can sell for the same price as my Leica lenses.

She thinks it's ludicrous that a lump of metal and glass can sell for the same price as a her handbags.

Anyhow, on counting her handbags and my lenses I have some catching up to do.

Hmmm

Buy the three lens Hermes kit and give her the bag. Done.

:D

I should clarify that I don't wear the bags.

I don't think I'd be allowed even if I wanted to ;))

Are you absolutely sure you don't want to reconsider your stance?

An M/MM/M9 + the 35 Lux FLE + the Noct 0.95 and the 75 Lux will fit in this bag very nicely

Yes heavily cropped which is something I try not to do very often, but difficult to move around and get close at the ballet !

The full image below, the ballerina was sublime and very photogenic

I'm sure you've made the right decision today, but if you change your mind in a few month or years there will be a few 'I told you so' comments ;)

Open invitation........Just bought a mint boxed (German-made) one. I always secretly told myself that if I saw one in this condition again I'd buy. This will be the second one I've owned over the years and I'm not letting this one go.......;)

It's here. Lovely example, I'm relieved to say. Focusing is so smooth and buttery, perfectly weighted. It certainly seems lighter to focus than my last example and my f1 Noctilux. Clear blades and glass........

Seems bang on at f1.4 (with my eyes assisted by a 1.4x magnifier)

Off to shoot in London tomorrow after my business meeting.....

Just out of curiosity I overlapped these MTFs

I'm a proud owner of 75 Lux and 90 Apo and thinking of getting 75 Apo but this comparison put me off.

NOTE: 75mm Lux is @f/1.4 on the first MTF

I wish Peter Karbe could design a 75mm Apo-Summilux-M ASPH I would pay $7K for that  instead of another 50 :(

Well, I see a big difference in the MTFs, which is also seen in the samples.

For me one thing is obvious, 75lux is a dream portrait lens, 75 cron a bit better all rounder, and smaller in size.

I wish I owned both.

If Karbe follows his current design philosophy, then you would have a 75mm with the ugliest OOF of all the long Leica M lenses.

Sadly that is the case :( but I love his 50mm Summilux-M ASPH. and going to get this new 35Lux.

For 75mm I would prefer to have a heavy 1.4 than a light f/2. its already a short tele lens and weighs almost like a camera, couple of grams trading of for 1.4 doesn't bother me.

according to new 50mm Philosophy they should produce 50mm elmar-m f/2.8 again just to fill the gap, maybe they can make 50mm F/1 and f/1.1 and f/1.2 also just for the joy of it. and an Apo version for each...

He designed 75mm APO, and I don't find the OOF bad at all, the same goes for 50 lux.

The only one he "missed" is a 35 FLE, but I guess this was a trade of for such a great lens.

I had the 75 Summarit with better MTF's whilst it was very sharp you simply can't compare to the 75 Summilux, the fact that it's Mandlers favourite lens says it all. I love it and don't crave additional sharpness at low to modest apertures. I bet it's even better on the monochrom

I had the 75 summilux on M8 some years ago. Fantastic lens.. only problems were it being the size of a baseball bat, weighting like a bag of bricks and had a too long focus throw for my liking. Picture quality was never an issue, simply fantastic.

I've always liked how Mandler lenses render. They might not be technically the best anymore, but they draw beautiful and smooth.
