I was hoping we might be able to rise about "well show me what YOU can do mentality" when it came to photographic criticism, (and for the majority who simply took my comment for what it is and moved on, bravo) but, fou you "Andy" this is for you:

This isn't about me doing something better or being able to do something better than what's been entered in the contest. The pictures have merit, but that's as far as I will reach. To me, it's about the subject matter - i find the photos rather pedestrian, predictable and lacking a certain something in their makeup that makes me go "WOW." It's not about whether I can do better. It's about these being the apparent cream of the crop for a contest - I am underwhelmed. Could I do better? Probably not. But this isn't about my ability, it's about the ability of those that entered the contest. I'm not impressed. I'm sure others aren't either but because they were shot with an X-1 we're all supposed to rally around that rather than the image that was captured, right?

I also have the same feeling towards the Mona Lisa - it's just "ok" in my book. But please don't ask me if I can "do better". Opinions are opinions. Get used to it and stop being because you didn't hear something that you like in the most subjective of all fields - art.

Micko, let me stick my oar in here. It seems to me that perhaps you do not understand the constraints, limitations and other difficulties directly governing actually shooting "The One Challenge". To summarize, they are considerable, even daunting. It is not about getting great pictures per say, which many of the contestants did outside the challenge. It is essentially shooting with handcuffs, blindfold and minus your walking stick ( :D) and still turning up with a result, against the clock, weather not permitting. Challenge being the operative word. Think about it.

And now you might consider casting a valid vote with the benefit of this knowledge, since you are in this thread. It will be appreciated.
