johnpierce Posted November 14, 2014 Share #661 Posted November 14, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M9 has been into Leica so much for pixel and motor issues (3 times) that I rely heavily on the M8. Got the 8 shutter upgrade back in the day (2008?) and it performs wonderfully. Now I need to get one of those great ancient 28mm I see you all with!

bla Posted November 14, 2014 Share #662 Posted November 14, 2014 @peter: that image was exposed for 30s... The light at the horizon is from a faraway city... The first image I took was even better with stars shining above, but my battery failed me while saving after the 30s exposure and until I finished swapping a fresh one the fog had rolled in... ^^

sleuthin1 Posted November 30, 2014 Share #673 Posted November 30, 2014 Absolutely beautiful photos in this thread. I'm new the rangefinder experience (Leica M8) and I can't seem to get the clarity and color in my photos (it's the operator, not the camera). I have a Zeiss 35mm f/2 on my Leica. Needs lots of light for a sharp crisp image. How do you folks get the images so clean, clear, and crips? _______________________ Cheers, Matt Las Vegas
farnz Posted November 30, 2014 Share #674 Posted November 30, 2014 ... How do you folks get the images so clean, clear, and crips? Matt, Welcome to the forum! I can only speak for myself but I just try to use clean lenses, sound technique, and competent processing. Sadly there is no magic formula. Pete. Then correcting with Photo software (Lightroom or Photoshop) from DNG (as a negative for the film). You will get better pictures Best Henry Some pictures here (another on my "Profile") M8 with different lens : http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/nature-wildlife/286483-lotus-flower-macroelmar-90-a.html http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landscape-travel/285141-cliffs-etretat.html http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landscape-travel/284936-claude-monets-garden.html Edited November 30, 2014 by Doc Henry
farnz Posted December 6, 2014 Share #676 Posted December 6, 2014 i found out today that it means £600+ to have the shutter repaired by Leica. (I haven't decided yet whether to have it repaired and continue with a new shutter or to cut my losses.) Well I bit the bullet and shelled out £600 on the assumption that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't and it made it back from Wetzlar 2 days ago with black dot intact. The receipt says that Leica 'repaired the shutter' which is still 1/8000th but is now much, much quieter than it was before and is similar to my M240 and the release mechanism is much smoother than the formerly jerky action so I'm a happy chap. Pete. One from today: Jaguar XK120 (sadly not mine). Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Lenshacker Posted December 6, 2014 Share #677 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) The M8 is great for converted lenses- 1.3x crop factor is easier for making RF Cams for SLR lenses... Minolta 50/1.4 MC Mount on the M8, holds RF coupling to 0.65m. This lens is very good across the center 2/3rds of the image, another reason it works well with the M8.
