Stuffit - available for free from the App Store - or online.

There's a better unzipper than Stuffit, but I can't remember it's name - I'm away from my desktop.

The Unarchiver...

It is free and open source... and wonderful...

Just upgraded without incident; took < 2 minutes. I used a SanDisk Extreme 32GB 30MB/s SDHC card.

My settings (including photo serialization count) appear to have been correctly preserved, despite the Leica instruction sheet's warning to the contrary.

As mentioned in a previous post, anyone have a chance to test your WATE. Like Rick, my WATE and 21mm have been fine, and at this point I really don't feel like creating new problems. As an option, is the firmware update reversible in case it does create a problem with my wides? Thought it was a one way street, but the more I think about it the less I am sure.

Thanks.

The Firmware update CRASHED my M9....sending into Leica today for repair

Is there a hard reset or similar option for this situation. Most electronic devices have such an option, usually utilizing pressing several buttons for a specific amount of time.

Not for me, but thought such an option might help nunnzzzz. Never know....

So far none of these updates have been reversible. I'm going to wait for now. I'm fine, I'll hold.

Firmware worked fine for me. I'm also glad Leica did not remove the strong vignetting on the 28 Cron ASPH which I was afraid they would.

As for the color shift fixes..well, definitely improved in the case of UWAs, perhaps to the point that no corner fix is required, but there is still room for improvement.

I took a series of test shots before and after the firmware update with a variety of wide angles with which I've had a red edge issue.

Open images in separate tabs and flip between them:

35 Lux asph:

-f/1.4 Old FW

-f/1.4 New FW

-f/5.6 Old FW

-f/5.6 New FW

28 Cron asph:

-f/2 Old FW

-f/2 New FW

-f/5.6 Old FW

-f/5.6 New FW

ZM 25 (Coded as 24 Elmarit ASPH):

-f/2.8 Old FW

-f/2.8 New FW

-f/5.6 Old FW

-f/5.6 New FW

ZM 18 (Coded as 21 Elmarit):

-f/4 Old FW

-f/4 New FW

-f/8 Old FW

-f/8 New FW

Thanks for that, denoir. A quick check of your images confirms my global conclusion (with 15 CV, 24 Elmarit and 35 cron IV): it is definitely better but the problem is not completely solved. But the CV15 is now sort of usable from F8.0 on (setting on Elmarit 28 non-asph)

I also seem to have better results with LR3 than with C1 at first glance

No "red blobbing " here on first very unscientific glance, but I will take many photo's in the coming days anyway.

I have some idea however who the betatesters were, with WATE, and I know they would have holy hollered over any red blob, so I trust them until I am sure.

Denoir, some of your ZM 25 links are not working.

Due to the framelines mine brings up, I have to code it as a 2/28 Summicron ASPH. I get pretty much NO red edge OR vignetting with this setting at f/5.6, but some very minor vignetting at f/2.8. Of course, it doesn't help if yours brings up the wrong framelines unless you want to manually enter the code...
