LinkerX that sounds like starting at the top of the game:D I think I had some Agfa or Kodak plastic thing when I was 8. It did take 4.5x4.5 cm negatives so it was not completely useless.

I seem to recall that Leica does not want anything remotely looking like lens fungus near their works for obvious reasons, possibly CLA repair shops would be (have been) willing to have a go.

A collector ended up buying them because they were very low serial number.

I'm female, love gadgets, technology and my Leica! So Meh! to someone who said earlier that women aren't into technology!

I was widowed at forty, with four children of my own and one stepson at home then, aged from 3 and 14years old.

Now at 53 all of my children are more or less grown up, youngest is 17 next week.

I've lived in Wales, England, Australia and now home in Wales again. Had so much fun despite life's ups and downs. I've earned every single beautiful long silver hair on my head. What else can I say?

Life is just beginning - and my love of photography is set to continue... hope to do an MA in Documentary after finishing my BA Photography next year! Using all Leica kit of course! Bring it on I say...

...for all friends of statistics - maybe you find this chart helpful. It just needs to be adjusted for "bought my first Leica". ...

Petty much accurate! That's how I feel; the more I know, the less I find my picture worth a look.

I'll be 55 this summer and I've noticed Dr. S' lack of interest in age polls.

Paulus was kind to point this thred to me, after reading the one in the German speaking section.

Got an M2 + Summilux 35mm both heavily used and brassed together for under 500 DM in the mid seventies and sold that less than 10 years later for a little bit more. Both were rattling from day one to the moment I handed it over...

( trading this and a Tele-Rolleiflex - same shape - in, don't flame me: for a brand-new F4 with a 50 and a waist level finder. This change because my daughter was born, dark-room went, too and colour negative came in. )

...but the pictures taken with the rattling M2 were ok. Check-up in Wetzlar was out of the question, because it cost too much by comparison to HP-4 prices.

Bought the M9 last year.

Nostalgic only on 2nd thought: presently imo no better pictures out of a more compact camera.

Best,

Simon

Following on from Bill Palmer's thread about "Leica Years" http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/barnacks-bar/166695-leica-years.html, it might be about time that a straw poll was held again to see where the age of typical forum membership lies.

We did this a few years ago and, IIRC, the average age at that time was around 44.

In order to protect the innocent and maintain a sense of decorum, I have made this poll anonymous, and have used typical demographic age ranges to keep it simple.

Over to you.

In replie to your answer Andy:

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/173689-how-old-we-leica-m9-users.html

I made my own average in the German Forum:

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/forum-zur-leica-m9/173673-wie-alt-sind-wir-im-durchschnitt.html

You thought that there might be no difference between English and German speaking M9 users, and that an M9 user was the same as any other M user,.

The average age of M9 users in the German speaking part is almost 47 years ( 46,92392857 )

I begin to ask myself if there is a difference between the two " Worlds"

It could be , that your survey was 3 years ago and that everybody just got 3 years older. :)

That made me smile. I do wonder if there is a difference between countries in terms of income and age. So many factors. I do get the impression from some of our frequent posters that they are rather affluent.

Als long as they behave themselves in the streets, I see no problem;)

Thats lovely dear, what would you like for your birthday, she answered take me to dinner.

No problem, where? France at the eiffel tower, and while we are over there we might visit the UK.

So I better do it otherwise it will cost me more in a divorce settlement......LOL.

You're right there Andy.

We will be over there in July, with the London olympics it was quite difficult to get accommodation but

we succeeded, so I am looking forward to visiting the mother country.

:D

Now we wait for an explanation.......

No we did not have such facilities in NL to my knowledge, too darn cold, even for non-hatchback, maybe Jaap wil disagree . (sorry Jaap I could not resist the temptation for a snide remark, I think you know there is no ill intent)

The Dutch speaking among us are so few and far between that "openluchtbioscoop" is safe enough without spoiling the fun.

Who are the 9 fellas under the age of 20, and roaming at this forum? [...]

Our grandchildren. I hear giggles and whispers saying "OLD Gits" in the background.

Really, I thought it was a great gesture to hand a young one a Leica M4. She made a mild sneer and handed it back right away. "Uncle, we would rather have the '56 Harley." Kids today, I tell ya.

About drive ins, we still have a couple. I told them that I was just a little unhappy with the smaller windshields today and they chimed in, "Yea, but every car today has reclining seats!" (Why a drive-in with 50" flat screens and downloadable video? Those damned seats is the answer. A real trip, I guess. Or maybe there's something about three-point seat belts.)

OMG
