Good idea. Mine shows Air Force cadets at a recent parade -- a moment of quiet solicitude for a colleague who doesn't seem able to get his dress hat at quite the right angle...

It's tough to follow Alun's hat, but here are some from the highlands of Papua New Guinea, where men spend years in wig schools producing formal and daily wigs for themselves out of their own hair and found objects. The last image is of the headmaster of the wig school. BTW: Papua's highlands are so inaccessible that no non-Papuan got there until the 1930s.

Stuart -- Hmm, those PNG wigs raise the bar. I esp. like #3 in the top row sequence but all of them are going to take some beating.

Come on folks -- let's see how long and enduring we can make a picture thread as opposed to a 'which neck-strap' or 'lens hood variants' or 'which brasses quickest' thread!!

Paga -- that first of yours is timelessly elegant, by the way. It should be a fine bone china plate, mind you, not cardboard!

Oh -- and de rigueur in synagogues:

I agree... no matter how wealthy and/or posh, garden parties in America never match the sophistication of the old world ;)

...this is some image, paga - I'm loving the tonality. Could be a film thing, but I also need to go and dig out my neglected Summicron-C 40mm.

An american variation of hat ware. In some parts, they even serve as formal ware. ;)
