hektor Posted August 5, 2022 Share #18144 Posted August 5, 2022 (edited) Good morning Rona!d. Indeed, a W136 Mercedes-Benz 170 S Cabriolet A. I can't vouch for the year, but the model was produced from 1949 till 1952. My first car was the Innenlenker. Welcome, dear visitor! pippy Posted August 5, 2022 Share #18145 Posted August 5, 2022 I do like the Tatra T600 (I believe?) seen in the background just beyond the 356. Very Nice! Philip.
NigelG Posted August 5, 2022 Share #18146 Posted August 5, 2022 I think rather than agonising over hinges or bonnet straps we should launch a “Name this Car in the background” thread… 😀

Very likely a Tatraplan (if not one of the rare T 107 / T2/107). My grandfather wanted to replace his Adler Autobahn Cabriolet with a Tatraplan but opted for a Borgward 2400 instead.

When it was new, this was the typical car of „Frau Generaldirektor“ (CEOs wife). Good morning Rona!d, last time I heard of the car it was in Hamburg. Being near you it might be at local gatherings for you to enjoy. Wonderful cars to drive if a little underpowered. A friend of mine put a 190 SL motor in his when you could buy the saloon for AU₤30.00 as I did.
hektor Posted August 6, 2022 Share #18150 Posted August 6, 2022 Here is the Tatra you saw in the background, a little further advanced in its recommissioning: Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted August 9, 2022 Share #18154 Posted August 9, 2022 Thanks, hektor. My next car "would" be ready but I have problems with yours. It looks like a mix of a Glas GT and FIAT Bertone 850 but I´m sure it is something else. Very likely italian and FIAT based but maybe from a small maker? hektor Posted August 9, 2022 Share #18155 Posted August 9, 2022 Rona!d, you got the designer, or at least the design office of Bertone.
Rona!d Posted August 9, 2022 Share #18156 Posted August 9, 2022 The Fiat Abarth 1000 GT Monomille also came to my mind. Those were built in different designs, but maybe a bit too exotic. Next thought would be a Simca 1000 Coupe (Designer was Giugiaro who worked for Bertone). Is it one of these?
wlaidlaw Posted August 9, 2022 Share #18157 Posted August 9, 2022 I wondered if the angle was foreshortening the car and it is an Alfa Romeo 2600 Bertone Coupé. Wilson
stuny Posted August 9, 2022 Share #18158 Posted August 9, 2022 I immediately thought Italian since they look like Pirelli Cinturato tyres from about 1960, and Hektor's clues suggests Giugiaro to me, too. But I have nothing else

Wilson Dear Wilson, You are a walking talking encyclopedia. Spot on. I photograph the Tipo 106.02 as it is identical to my two. I much under-rated car, provided its fitted with electric power steering. Stuart, the tyres are 165SR400 Michelin X, the only tyres available in the unique metric size; and it was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Welcome, dear visitor!
