Tight crop required...I'm currently trying to find out more about it - but maybe someone here knows it?

Well - I know it's definitely steel-bodied!

I'm thinking it's probably some kind of an 'homage' but couldn't speak to the owner as he was off getting a coffee...

...unless it's one of those 'Vintage-Look Wrap' things merely simulating rust (which do seem to be popular with certain types) and in which case we can probably exclude anything from the Gmünd days...

Apart from that I'm no nearer to finding a solution! I'll have a bit of a Dig and see if I can come up with something.

Philip.

The first thing I did was decide it can't be an old Alfa or Lancia because as we all know they don't rust..... But I think I could give you the paint code on this one.

That looks like Alfa rust to me. My Alfetta had holes all the way through after 18 months and in horrible places like the base of the rear screen.

I have had eight Alfas and not one of them rusted.  Australia's dry climate without salt on the roads helped, but the major reason I suspect was that I never used a detergent to wash them;  just the garden hose and sponge.

Oddly enough I am currently coping with a rust problem on my 1977 911 RSR at the moment. It is where the paper thin lightweight steel flared wings are fixed to the inner wings/wheel arch liners. There is a damp trap there and I am now getting the odd blister. I know that three of the rallies I did were very wet and I suspect it took a long time to dry out there. The body folks who have it at the moment are going to do their best without taking the whole car apart. I am probably selling it anyway to buy something a bit tamer like a Graber bodied Alvis TD21 or if I can find one, a rust free Lancia Flaminia Coupé.

So here it is in all its be-stickered glory...

It has a fitted roll cage and sports a 1964 Rallye Monte-Carlo plate on the front with the 713 number but obviously there was no 713 in the race (though there were 3 356s)

It has a German reg plate on the front and Florida plate on the rear, period-looking additional lights and decals from Goodwood, BRDC, Tour de Corse and even Mille Miglia (!) liberally scattered across it.

Not sure what to make of it really - It was parked up in Sag Harbor on a Sunday - but it makes a change from the usual "car house" shelf queens (to use a Leica term) that are gingerly driven round the Hamptons on dry days only.

Apologies gentlemen.  Nigel didn't confirm it was a "B".

This is not a Mercedes-Benz:
