from the reflection - a B - in the wing it could be a Bentley?

The 2 digit reflection of the next car's number sticker? I don't quite see the "B" you speak of, but you are right! It is a Bentley 1954 R Type race car. From the scant information I find on the web, there is just this one. The driver/owner was grinning, and so proud of it before his start at the California Mille in San Francisco a few weeks ago. Here are 2 more of my pictures of it, along with a vintage photo, photographer unknown. The front is easily recognized, the rear was from a different drawing board. Thanks, to Ronald for the chance to post it. Holy Moly, good job!

Why does that car need the rain for it to be photographed? I notice the registration number has changed between photos too.

You mention the mix of styles but in 1954 did the R type have twin headlights? Did they not come later with the S type? Actually the front looks to be completely S type but I am far from being an expert.

More for another thread but I'd guess that black and white photo is at Goodwood or Thruxton but maybe somebody with a real eye for detail really knows.

I'm no expert either. The rain just happened to be falling the day I photographed the car, as it was on the vintage photo. I imagine the present owner requested the same numbers as seen in the vintage photo. As far as the twin headlights: I, too, thought there were from a more modern era than 1954. But when I searched a bit, I found pages similar to the following:

eBay Find of the Day: 1954 Bentley R-Type fastback racer — Autoblog

Maybe someone can shed some light on this?

More clear, but I am also confused in my mind... :( :

- Can't recognize the logo... but has a "british" appearance

- Right Hand Drive... British again

- Speed indicator to 60 Mph (?) ... British again, and a "slow" car... (unless it stands for 6000 rpm...)

... I feel to be in a cul-de-sac... :(....Ron is the strongest player here around... but I'd bet isn't an Alfa...

Luigi, what if the odo is on the left side and in front of the driver we see the rev meter (6.000 upm are ok for such a car).

Don´t mind the logo on the steering wheel, a lot of other supplier accessories used, especially in that time and italy.

Luigi, sorry, as a penalty you should by the game with playcards in which the most beautiful cars have their value and different points for scoring.....;)

Good idea, Ronald!:D

This car was the winner some years ago in the Concour d'elegance at lake Como, Villa d'Este.

It must be fun to drive for a nice cup of coffee and the 'appelgebak' with a car in the value of around 1 Mio€........and no Leica on the backseat but a Panama hat.....:D

Take a time machine and travel back to the mid-seventies when this car was a nice, but not overpriced "weekend-car". Gas prices were low and you could really ENJOY it without any fear. Imagine how many different cars you could buy and switch from one to the other every summer (328/507 Roadsters, 300 SL, 356 Speedster, even 550 Spyder and many more). Living in the wrong time :(
