Herzog Conté amphibious car?

Wilson

No, but you come closer. This car was ment to be able to swim (to me unknown if it ever proofed to do so - I think NOT because first tests were "soso"). It should also be usable to be thrown out of planes, which means there was a military idea behind it. The "marketing guys" were dreaming to sell it as a beach car as well, but failed (only one beach car made).

So which car is it?

- german car

- front wheel drive only

- military

- should be able to swim (but never proofed I think)

- later than Porsche Jagdwagen

- no VW, no Porsche, no RMA, no Herzog Conte, no DKW, no Mercedes

AND .... it´s from a mass producer!

Have not found it but while searching, came across this amazing 1948 3 wheel aeroportable jeep called a Davis Divan, which used a Lycoming 4cyl engine. Just what every Marine needs - not!

Finally you found it. The video says it all, so no need for me to post a photo of that "trailer queen" (the owner always pulls this on the shown trailer, at some meetings he never put the car down on the ground :( It´s the same car. The developer told me, that they hoped to sell this a civil beach car but got no permission because for different reasons. Project had been stopped after some cars made. Army bought the cheaper Trabant Kübel.

So who is the winner? ksmart found Wartburg and UliWer the model. I´ll leave it you.
