Or a slightly earlier one? Was that called 319, or 320?

Yeah, could easily be. Not enough information in the photo to tell. The only thing that worries me is that 4-spoke steering wheel. I think it should be a 3-spoke for a 328? Heck, I'm probably way off base anyway! :D

It's a special built BMW 328 indeed. 2 or 3 are built.

Okay, it was much too hot (97F/36C) this evening to spend a lot of time taking photos! I shot this in my own driveway and retreated to the AC.

Very good! Actually it's the M coupe but the body is the same. Something kind of neat about shooting an M with an M.

Over to you.

Yes, you are good! I am impressed. I don't have a shot of the whole car but....

Thanks, Michael. Nice car shot!

A couple of days ago, Steed correctly guessed the name of the BMW Z3 Coupe, so, by the OP's (Pete's) guidelines, should have a chance to post a new photo. I'll send Steed a message; If not heard from, I'll post a picture shortly. Many thanks for your patience.

My turn. This should not be too much of a challenge for the cognoscenti

thank you, john. i was lucky with the d-type. just shows you what a memorable shape the car had. :)

i had to borrow this image, and will disclose the source at the end. my father actually owned one of these roadster models, and several other models for spares. in leica terms, a IIIC or IIIF would have been a contemporary. made in the USA, low production but many faithful fans.

president eisenhower and frank lloyd wright owned other models from the same company

good luck
