wlaidlaw Posted June 7, 2024 Share #21941 Posted June 7, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The weight seems to matter very little. To give some hard and fast figures. My previous car was a Porsche 997 Turbo S, which weighed around 1650kg and had 550BHP. The mileage was just below 20 MPG for shorter runs (all through the winter) and for going down to my house in the south of France, where in most recent years, you have had to stick rigidly to the speed limits, I got approximately 23-24 MPG. Over the winter in my hybrid Panamera, notwithstanding that it weighs 2200 kg, I get an average, including electric mileage of around 45 MPG. On the long trip down to my French house I get 26-27 MPG. My Panamera has a combined max power electric and petrol working together of 475 BHP. I think that comprehensively shoots down the argument about hybrid not being worth it. The 997/911 held two adults and two children (for short trips only) and had limited luggage space as an appreciable amount of the frunk was taken up by the 4WD front differential. The Panamera seats 4 large adults in comfort and has a huge luggage boot. For my needs, the hybrid has been well worthwhile, given that the diesel was no longer in production when I ordered. Wilson PS The theoretical range on my Panamera for electric is 50km but in practice around 30-35km in winter and 40-42 in summer, using the air con. The 2025 models due out in a couple of months with improved battery technology, will have a theoretical range of around 90km, slightly up from the 2024 model which has 80km electric range. Sorry for your friend (I missed your previous messages). Hello Lelmer, I think that what you have written may be accurate when parameters stay the same. It would appear that what Wilson has written is: BECAUSE the parameters are changed when electrical power is added to the "mix": The new parameters give a better result than what might be expected within the guidelines of the the previous system. Such as charging at nite with electricity from a sustainable source, so that the gasoline engine would be used less frequently. Combined with other things that change the parameters to make the new combination more ecologically sustainable. pippy Posted June 12, 2024 Share #21953 Posted June 12, 2024 (edited) OK. Here's somthing I snapped about 15 mins ago. Probably going to be far too easy but let's see. Not sure the door-edge trim is original and I'm not even 100% sure I know the exact model name(!) but I'll endeavour to make that discovery soon! Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted June 12, 2024 Share #21954 Posted June 12, 2024 The door handle, button and lock look like ‘60s General Motors, but the panel fit seem a bit too good.

You are spot-on as regards '60s GM. I couldn't possibly comment on the fit of the panels! Here's another pic of this little runabout; Welcome, dear visitor! pippy Posted June 13, 2024 Share #21959 Posted June 13, 2024 (edited) Cadillac is correct but not an Eldorado. Can we get which model she is? I'll post another pic afterwards which will pin-point the version / year. Here's an interior snap. I think I've removed all the model-badging!...; Welcome, dear visitor! Ivan Goriup Posted June 13, 2024 Share #21960 Posted June 13, 2024 (edited) Philip - the red car in your two cropped shots are definitely not of an Eldorado, but are of a 1966 Cadillac Deville Convertible.....and no, you did not remove all the badging. in the 2nd image. You left the cloisonneed 'Caddy' badges on the center horn button and in the rectangular chrome trim of the passenger-side door panel. Sadly, by the mid '60s the differences between an Eldorado and 'regular' Cadillac had dwindled to a slightly fancier interior with real wood and even puffier upholstery for the Eldorado and a few less ( believe it or not ) pieces of chrome trim on the outside for the Eldorado. When the first Eldorado was introduced in 1953 it featured significantly different bodywork and was instantly identifiable from the 'lesser' convertible models, and also cost a lot more then a mere Cadillac convertible, but those differences gradually became less and fewer until by the early sixties there was scant difference between the regular convertible and the Eldorado, which by then was nothing more than a trim package as a nod to senior U.S. customers and Las Vegas types who insisted on being seen driving only an Eldorado convertible. In '67 the hideous, even longer, larger & more preposterous & ostentatious front-wheel drive Cadillac convertible was introduced, but by then the Eldorado name had lost any & all of it's glamour, Cadillac was in steep decline as a 'luxury' brand, and the Eldorado name just went away. That epistle above is my typically long & windy way of saying that Indeepthought is in my opinion entirely correct and that it is a Cadillac covertible.
