I’d guess an Alfa Romeo.

I read a story a few years ago after Moss died.  He and Fangio were driving an Alfa on the road somewhere, at speed.  They came around a corner on a country road, Fangio at the wheel, and there was a tractor blocking their path.  The Alfa ended up in a ditch.  The farmer approached, shouting “Who do you think you are, Fangio?”

That story with Stirling Moss as the subject did the rounds in the Uk, one day it was actually Mr Moss that was stopped for speeding.. Life goes on.. 🍻

His Mercedes career was relatively short, wasn’t it?  He also drove for Alfa, Ferrari & Maserati …

You are right, but he became director of Mercedes Benz Argentina after his F1 driver period. His global career with Mercedes wasn't short.

A couple of years ago I got invited to visit a non-public workshop and they asked me if I´d like to take seat in Fangios 1954 SPA winner car (#10) before it got locked for a while. I was the only guests, so had the time to pre-focus the M9 and explain the Mercedes guy how to take some snaps before I took place.

Monaco, Stuart 😊. I first thought it was in Reims, but wikipedia helped me here 😊

I go past that statue regularly, when visiting my brother. It is just after Rascasse corner and just before the entry to the Nice Rocher Tunnel (beware of speed cameras with zero leeway) off the harbour-side street, Quai Antoine 1er,  looking towards the exit signposted to the A8 going west in the direction of Nice.

It's also about 500 meters before the new location of Rainier III's car collection

I must visit that again. I last went to the museum when it was still up in the palace in a basement garage, about 40 years ago. The cars were all a bit dusty and tired looking then but I think Albert's staff will have spruced them up a lot for the new museum plus with a load of additions.
