You can understand the designer, as they are paid to think out of the box but the senior executive who signed off on this gargoyle of an automotive monstrosity?? The correct reaction would have been to get their staff to do a drugs test on the designer when he next arrived at work. Chrysler at least had a reasonable excuse for the Prowler, in that it was a relatively low risk/low cost trial for their new aluminium chassis architecture but GM had no excuses for this. They did not even reach 25,000 sales across both years, showing that the US public had better taste than the GM management. The rally organisers on Sunday, tried to hide it off in a corner.

Andy - your turn.

The AC 428 design has definite echos of the Maserati Mistrale convertible. My memory from the period is that Motor Magazine gave it a somewhat lukewarm write up. The Ford 428 FE series engine was a bit of a crude lump and had little in common with the Holman and Moody 427 engines used in the Mark III 427 Cobras, which are hand built engines, in spite of AC's attempts to imply otherwise.

I stay with what I wrote:  I think it is a modificated S class, from the 116 series, looking at windows interior and mirror, there is no other model fitting

No doubt it is a W116, haven´t questioned that. But which W116? Model and coachbuilder please. It can be seen in the picture, hence my super wide crop.
