The louvers are really very similar to the Cosmo but the rest does not fit. Is it Japanese at all? I think that I have seen this brand sign somewhere.

Just to make sure: when you say that It is not European, you mean that it is also not from the UK?

Not sure the rest doesn’t fit.....it has the same subtle flat pressing line above the louvres, isn’t US or European, and was the first Wankel-engined mass-produced Mazda. Maybe the bottom edge of the arch is detailed a tiny bit squarer.

Mazda Cosmo Sport series 1 maybe (1967?)....would need to see if the indicator repeater was round or rectangular - I think the earliest were round.

Here's the first correct reply. It is a Mazda Cosmo............in fact it's Jay Leno's Cosmo, one of the first cars in his massive collection, and one he said he'll never sell. Completely original

Your turn, Andreas.................and thanks to all who participatied.

Well, let's try this one.  Extra points if you can tell who the owner was and where the car is now.

I think it is a 1928 Franklin Four Passenger Torpedo Phaeton from 1928. The previous owner was I think George Staley and it is now at the North East Classic Car Museum at Norwich, NY.

Stuart,

Then it is probably the other well known Franklin, the Roadster originally owned by Jesse Harlan Lincoln, the granddaughter of Abe Lincoln. I think this car is now owned by Hildene but not sure. My book covering classic American Automobiles is down in France and my Georgano Encyclopaedia of the Automobile is too old an edition to cover this.

No surprise that you got it, Wilson.  It is indeed owned by Hilene (https://hildene.org/), the Lincoln family home at the edge of Manchester, Vermont.  It's a nice town with a superb book store and Mother Myrick's, a world-class confectionery (https://www.mothermyricks.com/ order their buttercrunch).

Your turn

Here is your next one. Unless you know this quite rare car, this might be a stinker 😀

Touring bodied Bristol 401 ?

I was thinking along those lines too as the screen is similar - but the 401 (+402s) have “opposed” wipers rather than synchronised (not sure whether there’s a technical term)..

Are we looking at the right date - ie c. 48-mid 50s?

I’m thinking that it looks like a  Delahaye (split screen, bonnet centre chrome trim) maybe a 135? But I can’t think of the British connection - or exactly which of the many coachbuilt versions it could be (all French houses I think)
