stuny Posted April 1, 2015 Share #7404 Posted April 1, 2015 The profile takes some from the MGA and the AH100, but this is probably smaller, from the 1950s, and from a small UK builder.
John Z. Goriup Posted April 2, 2015 Share #7405 Posted April 2, 2015 Sorry, John, looking at the wonderful pics of the Jaguar... I am not sure to identify THIS one ... has a look that reminds me some Lancia... Zagato maybe.. ??? Luigi, You have a good eye ! This little jewel is a '64 Lancia 1800 Zagato Sports Prototype. This unique Zagato bodied competition car ( Ser.# 815538-1001 ), is a very unique car in the true spirit of Lancia's great racing tradition. In '64 the Lancia racing department built this Sports Prototype Zagato on a shortened Lancia frame with lightweight body and much emphasis on weight saving. Its first race was the '64 Targa Florio, Marco Crosina & Fernando Frescobaldi driving…..had a crash and did not finish. In '67, factory driver Claudio Maglioli (Italian Champion in '65 & '66 in Lancias ) bought the car from Lancia., and kept it for 20 years while restoring it lovingly. The current owner (from Vienna, Austria) finished the restoration in 2012. Last year's appearance at Pebble Beach was the first time the public saw the car since the Targa 50 years ago. This little jewel is a '64 Lancia 1800 Zagato Sports Prototype. ..... JZG Well... it wasn't so difficult for an Italian (and from a family that started to sell cars in 1912... ) : though a prototype, the style is anyway the one of the small.series-but standard Flavia Sport Zagato : Welcome, dear visitor! MikeSR Posted April 4, 2015 Share #7409 Posted April 4, 2015 Mike - What of the tiny car you posted? OK... after checking, it's not what we originally thought it was. So the challenge remains open and I'm trying to answer my own question!
wlaidlaw Posted April 4, 2015 Share #7410 Posted April 4, 2015 I think you may find it is a Markham-Peasy Super Sabre. I drove past a derelict one of these on a mound in front of a body repair shop near Oban on the Scottish Malts Rally last year. Fibreglass special from 1950's using Ford 8 or 10 running gear. There were dozens of small makes doing this. Buckler, Peel, Rochdale etc. Wilson
wlaidlaw Posted April 4, 2015 Share #7411 Posted April 4, 2015 Here is a picture of the Markham-Peasy. One of the prettiest of the specials, a bit like a little Osca or Maserati. MikeSR Posted April 5, 2015 Share #7412 Posted April 5, 2015 Here is a picture of the Markham-Peasy. One of the prettiest of the specials, a bit like a little Osca or Maserati. Wilson That all seems to match up with recollections. Ford running gear was the key. Edit: Rochdale had already come up in discussions too. Thanks! wlaidlaw Posted April 5, 2015 Share #7413 Posted April 5, 2015 Mike, Rochdale's are rather ugly from memory (not as ugly as the early Marcos), with a hump-back bonnet and many of them were coupés rather than roadsters. Wilson

stuny Posted April 17, 2015 Share #7417 Posted April 17, 2015 Well, this has stalled completely, I suppose partly because with all the commentary about ancillary cars, it's not clear who should post a car. Barging right in, here's one I've never seen before, and I show it in its entirety (though with the badging obliterated, as well as the bit of wording on the sign). What is it? Welcome, dear visitor! DigitalHeMan Posted April 17, 2015 Share #7418 Posted April 17, 2015 Is it a Lincoln Zephyr, late 1930s?
stuny Posted April 18, 2015 Share #7419 Posted April 18, 2015 Simon - That was quick, and you are correct. You can see that the grill influenced later Lincoln designers. The year of this one is 1940 and it is powered by a V12 engine. Your turn. Welcome, dear visitor!
