J_Thompson Posted December 6, 2010 Share #641 Posted December 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) LuxBob, although Carroll Shelby is getting up there in age, he is still very much on the upper side of the grass as his company is still producing his continuation series of Cobras, among other things. As far as the mystery car is concerned, it is being built by another well-known company and not an American one. Luigi, you're getting close. This car appears similar, but has a different name and is actually in production. BTW, I didn't know that Zagato is no longer in existence - what a shame as they designed many beautiful automobile bodies. The Alfa SZ Coda Tronca is still one of my favorites, even after almost 50 years.

Simply a fantastic sport car... the last name of the firm ("SZ Design") was a hommage to that legendary car... and is sad that two factories very next one to another (both Alfa and Zagato used to be in Arese, north of Milano) have both almost closed (see my PM about). About the car of the pic... could it be related to Ford-Aston Martin etc... ? I prefer to go by memory and not searching on the Net... J_Thompson Posted December 7, 2010 Share #643 Posted December 7, 2010 This car is not related to either Ford or Aston Martin, Luigi. As this model is quite new, using one's memory, probably will not be sufficient and you will have to use the internet to discover the answer. This car was also displayed at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show and may also be at other future auto shows. Too bad about Arese losing their historic manufacturing facilities, but things do change and life moves on.

J_Thompson Posted December 7, 2010 Share #645 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) Not a Lotus and not built in Europe or North America. Look at post #637. Edited December 7, 2010 by J_Thompson

luigi bertolotti Posted December 8, 2010 Share #648 Posted December 8, 2010 Sorry... I like this game but I haven't anymore pics of interesting cars taken by me (and this is BAD for a person living in the Mille Miglia town... ) with my Leica... So, I give up to anyone who likes, be he/she able or not to identify MY car in this last pic taken yesterday before going home (Nokia-taken, bran obliterated in the right instrument..) LuxBob Posted December 8, 2010 Share #649 Posted December 8, 2010 A Mercedes? SLK perhaps?
luigi bertolotti Posted December 8, 2010 Share #650 Posted December 8, 2010 Not a Mercedes... I personally like a lot SLK... but wit a wife and 3 daughters......not a car for me. (note: hard that a SLK has the "red zone" around 4500 rpm...)
stuny Posted December 8, 2010 Share #651 Posted December 8, 2010 A Diesel powered Audi sedan? Perhaps A3 or A4?
timd. Posted December 8, 2010 Share #652 Posted December 8, 2010 something with a quadrifoglio?
J_Thompson Posted December 8, 2010 Share #653 Posted December 8, 2010 It looks like an Alfa 159 to me, but Luigi, why don't you post a non-Leica image from your Mille Miglia - Brescia photo collection? The moderators have, in the past, just looked the other way when this has happened in this particular (non-creative) automobile-related thread which is actually more of a contest. Stuart, any objections?
LuxBob Posted December 8, 2010 Share #654 Posted December 8, 2010 I was thinking VW Scirocco but only 4500 rpm - that's a diesel or a stonking great V8 gas guzzler. It also has 157K kms which not many of the new Scirocco's will have done yet and so I am thinking VW Golf GTD (Diesel)?
gmo Posted December 8, 2010 Share #655 Posted December 8, 2010 I know this view - this is definitely an Alfa 159 JTDm because I see the same view everyday (although with far less milage at the moment) Regards Gerd
luigi bertolotti Posted December 9, 2010 Share #656 Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) That's indeed my Alfa 159... J and Gerd... one of you is right to post the next real car to guess ... and, Gerd, stay sure with your JTDm (my one is the Station Wagon) ... the mileage I got was reached without any significant problem... ; I'd like to change it in 2011... but the successor of 159 is expected for 2012, , not before, it seems... J_Thompson Posted December 9, 2010 Share #657 Posted December 9, 2010 I was only guessing but Gerd, you nailed the answer conclusively, even down to it being a diesel. Over to you!
gmo Posted December 9, 2010 Share #658 Posted December 9, 2010 John, Go ahead as I'm on the road for work for at least another day and I don't have access to my pictures on this computer. Luigi I luckelly have a stationwagon (through the company) for at least another year so I hope I can manage to wait for the follow up of the 159. stuny Posted December 9, 2010 Share #660 Posted December 9, 2010 It looks really familiar. I'll just start off by saying mid 1950s.
