ezc203 Posted March 23, 2010 Share #5 Â Posted March 23, 2010 Is that Jennifer Tilly? I'm a big fan!! It's a shame she looks so down, lose a big hand? Or, even worse, knocked out of a tourney?

ezc203 Posted March 23, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted March 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Excellent!! I wish her the best of luck. Or shall I say the best of "Laak" Â A friend and I used to play with Laak at the Bellagio. He has a lot of my money hehe, I would've loved to shoot him at the table, but somehow I think that would have been deemed inappropriate. Haha. gverdon Posted March 23, 2010 Share #8  Posted March 23, 2010 A beautifully melancholic form of tilt. ;-)  Cheers, Gérald
allamande Posted March 23, 2010 Share #9 Â Posted March 23, 2010 Poignant, caught her off guard almost. Â I thought you were based in the beach cities in LA. The second shot is pure Vegas (or could be LA minus the signs in the back), they have their act face on, full blast. Wonderful capture. Â Ece
vdb Posted March 23, 2010 Share #10 Â Posted March 23, 2010 Love her expression. I would imagine an enormous range of moods and expression in the poker world...will look forward to more.

kidigital Posted March 23, 2010 Share #12 Â Posted March 23, 2010 The separation between the subject and the crowd (with nearly all not looking at the camera) really invites the viewer in to try to focus in on the subject and her thoughts. Very interesting image. Â Kurt

melissah Posted March 24, 2010 Author Share #15 Â Posted March 24, 2010 agreed it needs work. poker is in awful lighting and i need to get to my other computer. then ill make some kind of routine pp for that kind of environment that i can carry with me. Â the party shot was done with my d-lux (4?) its actually a really good little camera. Â i tried to include the photogs as part of the image. they as interesting to me as their subject. best, melissa
thompsonkirk Posted March 27, 2010 Share #16 Â Posted March 27, 2010 I liked this picture from the start but didn't know what to say, so I've come back for another look. Two things strike me: Â One is the way she 'stands out from the crowd.' Of course this is a photo-technique that works so well with a Leica, but in this instance you've used it artfully so that it says something clearly: Out of that whole mass of guys, here's an individual. (That makes it much more than a romanticized bokeh-shot, such as we sometimes see here.) Â The other is her 'naturalness' or lack of affectation. She doesn't look like poker star, sports star, or entertainment star, just a woman in charge of her own face & features & her place in her environment. She knows who she is without a lot of adornment. Whether or not these are true inferences, IMO they're impressions that the photo conveys very well. Â I like both these things & also the tones. And the introspective look in her eyes. Â Kirk
wilfredo Posted March 27, 2010 Share #17 Â Posted March 27, 2010 Looks like you've captured a moment of uncertainty and temporary isolation. Well done.
