Guest Chris M Posted March 29, 2010 Share #182 Posted March 29, 2010 Whew, Chris. Before Frank comes back may I just say that I didn't read his comment as being "rude" the way you did. He said he was hoping that the information was wrong, not that you were. I didn't sense any insulting innuendos there. Frank can be wordy, but I've never read in his posts any personal attacks (altho he has received some himself). Regards. Doug (I sure hope that Chris M deep throat at Leica is wrong). So, How do others really perceive the words (DEEP THROAT) at Leica? Please indulge me...... I can tell you this, the way I take it is, that Frank is insulting and sneaky and trying to be polite about it, with out being vulgar, like saying, I'm sucking D!@# or:eek: Kissing A#$ with Leica, All I did was pass on informative info to the forum members and now I'm in the hot seat! So please who here defends Frank and who defends me? Haa haa LOL Please (read all of my posts thoroughly on this thread), thanks. (chris's team 1000 pts) and (Franks team 1 pt) chris m. dcoombs Posted March 29, 2010 Share #184 Posted March 29, 2010 Chris, "deep throat" was the name given a secret source of information in the movie about the Watergate break-in starring Redford and Hoffman (called All The President's Men). It became part of the American vernacular in many parts, referring to a contact for information that no one else knew about. That's all. Doug

ho_co Posted March 29, 2010 Share #190 Posted March 29, 2010 (edited) ... "deep throat" was the name given a secret source of information in the movie ... Actually, it's the name Woodward and Bernstein (or their editor) assigned their source, at least two years before the movie. But the term is properly capitalized. The reference "deep throat" is obvious to most of us, but might nonetheless be considered ambiguous in lower case. In fact (will wonders never cease?), according to the Wikipedia article cited above, the Washington Post's managing editor Howard Simons was intentionally playing on the name of the pornographic movie when he chose the designation. cidereye Posted March 29, 2010 Share #191 Posted March 29, 2010 Actually, it's the name Woodward assigned his source, at least two years before the movie. So you're telling me it wasn't Linda Lovelace after me believing it was all these years since ???
mjh Posted March 29, 2010 Share #192 Posted March 29, 2010 Actually, it's the name Woodward and Bernstein (or their editor) assigned their source, at least two years before the movie. Two years before the movie indeed, but two years after that other movie (nudge, nudge, say no more …).
ho_co Posted March 29, 2010 Share #193 Posted March 29, 2010 (edited) Michael-- Now that's not fair! Writers of technical German aren't supposed to be familiar with Monty Python. Maybe (just for old time's sake) Andreas could schedule a one-time web screening of the movie for us on the Leica channel? Jamie Roberts Posted March 29, 2010 Share #194 Posted March 29, 2010 (edited) Maybe (just for old time's sake) Andreas could schedule a one-time web screening of the movie for us on the Leica channel? Um, Howard? That's *not* the movie Michael was referring to, but the other, *older* one. It predated Woodward and Bernstein and their movie I don't think it's gonna get screened on the Leica channel, somehow, but that is the funniest post I've read all day In case you were thinking of Monty Python, you can of course, see that here: Edited March 29, 2010 by Jamie Roberts
SJP Posted March 29, 2010 Share #195 Posted March 29, 2010 So, How do others really perceive the words (DEEP THROAT) at Leica? Please indulge me...... In this context as somone in the "inner circle" at Leica, "better connected", "privy to information the rest of word does not have" as I would expect Frank intended. Movie was no good btw no need of rescreening.

Movie was no good btw no need of rescreening. SJP, I seem to be the only AMERICAN and Proud of it!... posting here lately, and yes, you are quite correct when you quote "better connected", and part of the " inner circle" that is "privy to a whole lot more info" than you are. So, I can see that Frank got the message. Now you need to just leave it alone. Let Frank fight his own battles and demons.Frank still needs to explain what he meant:cool: I can be helpful too you and all who respond in a respectful way:rolleyes: If not? you will ultimately will soon be greatly saddened:( as more bad news will come your way. MikeMyers Posted March 30, 2010 Share #198 Posted March 30, 2010 Er, last time I checked, Miami (where I'm at) was part of America. :-) I'd be happier if all the "I'm wrong/right, no you're right/wrong" stuff was moved to some other place, and this forum went back to discussing things that help out M8 owners, even if that means discussing how different people use their M8 cameras. Besides, if someone from Leica is going to come here and look over what people are asking for (and why) shouldn't that be the real focus of this discussion? If they see a soap opera, they'll move on to something else.
Guest BigSplash Posted March 30, 2010 Share #199 Posted March 30, 2010 Chris M ...I am amased by your personal attack, and frankly by the tone of your various posting on this thread that seem to be aggressive towards everyone. To be clear my reference to "Deep Throat" was indeed the Watergate insider that gave priviliged inputs to the journalists...it was not meant as any kind of personal attack towards you...in fact I am at a loss how even if I did not mean the movie how the term "Deep Throat" could be deemed offensive. Perhaps if I had said your "Spy at Leica" or "Informer that is feeding you confidential inside commercially sensitive information" that would have been better? Going back to the Firmware issue the subject of this thread and your other comments. I too would like a firmware update for the M8..and said so. You suggested that we should write to the CEO .....I have done this. I actually already wrote to Herr Spiller last week with respect to his Die Welt interview and in that letter I also mentioned other concerns including M8 Firmware, availability of accessories, lack of factory driven communication to clients etc. Maybe you should as you suggest to others write to Herr Spiller also. However I would IMHO suggest a more refined communication than what you have posted here. I would also suggest that you do not threaten him if you do not like his response as you have done here ...just a thought.
