NZDavid Posted September 21, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 21, 2009 I wouldn't toss the passport in as well -- I'd keep mine in a neck pouch.

dodger Posted September 24, 2009 Share #10 Posted September 24, 2009 I think a Swiss Army Knife needs to be in there too..vital travelling photograher's tool...nothing like being able to open a bottle of beer or wine, cut up your own fruit and cut some sausage and butter your own bread bought from the local market when traveller's foot sets in early afternoon. And get the little screwdriver to keep in the corkscrew too...never know when your camera or specs might need it. Oh, and to allow that, take a bit less kit. Except when I was working, my Leica travel kit was almost always an M2 or 4 with a 35 2 or 1.4 and a small hand meter for less obvious situations. At the mo it's an OM2 with a 35 f2...even lighter, because I don't need the meter.
Guest stnami Posted September 24, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 24, 2009 Evidently if I go to Naples I don't need a camera(travel kit) ....just a swiss army knife and a keen eye for a leica :D:D:D http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/99755-naples-too-dangerous-m9.html
peter_n Posted September 24, 2009 Share #12 Posted September 24, 2009 LOL. OP: Too much stuff. Take two bodies, three lenses and a meter. No offence but the bag looks decidedly poncy to me, like something a rich bloke would have. A scruffy bag is less likely to be nicked.
kenneth Posted September 24, 2009 Share #13 Posted September 24, 2009 I am hoping to travel by Erostar to Paris next spring and will take one M6+ 35mm Summicron asph and 4 rolls of B&W film. The Billingham 225 will stay at home

peter_n Posted September 25, 2009 Share #16 Posted September 25, 2009 Oh god! Don't start about flashy camera bags !!Very sorry. Won't mention it again. OP: Forgot to mention this in my earlier post but I don't think it's a good idea to stash your film in checked luggage. Much safer to bring it into the cabin with you. The x-ray machines in checked baggage are much more severe that those used for hand carry. Take your film with you on board. Doug

Take your film with you on board. Doug It all sounds too complicated to me I think I'll just go to Bridlington instead. After all if it is good enough for a former Bradford Lad, David Hockney then it's good enough for me
