Mmmm, what is Jaap's political party, if not VVD (the bog standard for Leica users ;)) what would it be PVV, Partij voor de Dieren?
PVV, the Good Lord protect me - populists are the worst in my book....No- I'm a child of the sixties ;)

I'll try to cause too much consternation then, And I promise not to cross the Rubicon. (So those in the south are safe.)

I should arriving in Italy on Monday afternoon, and I'll be based around Genova (Ranging between Monaco and Pisa) until Thursday, when I'll be driving up to Maranello and then back up through Austria and Germany on Friday. Hopefully the weather will be nice, and I'll be able to use my M8 at last! It arrived back from Solms again today, so I'm hoping that it's third time lucky for the sensor. :)

Thanks Jono. Hope you have a good trip too. I'll wave if I see you. :)

And thanks for the info Steve. I'll add that one to my 'approved' hotel list. (I normally stay in Mayrhofen if I'm in the Tyrol.) I'm not planning on staying in Austria on this trip, just blasting through on my way back up north. (Remembering to fill up the tank on the Bitchmobile there though, as Austria is normally pretty cheap for petrol.) :)

Hi Maurizio,

That sounds like a nice idea. :) It would be nice to get to meet some of the people from the forum at last. :) Just let me know where, and when, may be best for you and Enrico, and we'll try and sort something out.

The other announcement will not be a camera but cinema lenses made by Leica.

That could make some of the members on the RED user forum happy. Several posts there concerning Leica lens quality (but also others rubbishing the S2's prospects, although it does have one or two defenders). Assuming of course a suitable mount. Nikon Canon, PL and of course RED are already expected for the future Scarlet and Epic DSMC's.

If RED were to consider Leica lenses an R mount could prove interesting. The 'future digital solution for R lenses' perhaps? After all, Leica's recent financial report did mention 'further alliances':).

No I don't. And there is no question of a complaint in these cases - the European Commission investigates on its own accord - as they did with Microsoft, a number of times. - you should know that.

Wrong! The thing kicks off with a complaint from an aggrieved party or parties...then once the complaint has been launched and the EU commission believes in the case they cannot be stopped as happened with Microsoft.

Similarly Boeing initiated claims in USA against Airbus. Then Airbus complained to EU commission about unfair treatment and the war started.

I am pleased, although admit to being spoofed

Personally I think that this type of very detailed joke (April 1st excluded) is not funny and degrades the quality of the forum. There was so much detail giving it credibility and I believe most people on the forum try to be serious.

My dear Frank,

The very amount of "detail" should have warned the serious Leicaphiles on here that this was indeed a send-up of all the 090-9-09 hot air that's been wafting about ... to say nothing of the reference to April 1 in the post.

Come on ! What credibility can this fantasy have with anyone who's acquainted with Leica? Can anyone really imagine Leica - or anyone else - rebuilding their lenses for 50 Euro? Or accept the idea of licensing agreements with Japanese makers on lens mounts that have been out of patent for years? And differential royalties for one of them? This was meant as a deflator to counteract some of the might-really-be-rooted-in-reality notions that have been circulating, and I am quite astonished that anyone took it seriously.

Humour, like beauty, is very much in the eye of the beholder and not everyone will laugh - or even smile wanly - at the same thing. As the saying goes, "You can't please all the people all of the time". But as for degrading the quality of the forum ... well, words fail me. Even serious people (myself included) need to laugh at themselves sometimes.

Now - about the Electro-Visoflex ...

Two 'rumors' from a trusted and reliable source.

The M9 will indeed be a film camera!

It will be based on the M7 but with a 'crop sensor' or should I say film gate, exposing the same area on film as on the M8 sensor, so that you will be able to switch between cameras/finders without the annoyance of thinking about different formats and focal lengths.

Now the reason why Kodak Ektar is so IR sensitive makes sense. You need to use UV/IRfilters :)
