Advertisement Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Hi adli, Take a look here Leica refuses to confirm M9 launch.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

Nicoleica Posted August 10, 2009 Share #123 Posted August 10, 2009 Not too long ago, 35mm cameras were known as 'miniature cameras', and looked upon with some disdain by those who had 'real' cameras. Yet now, we are getting all excited about a possible future camera that may have a sensor as big as a 35mm film frame. Is this what they call irony? adli Posted August 10, 2009 Share #124 Posted August 10, 2009 I suppose that is some kind of humour? It's the first page I found when I searced for M9 and "pre order" :-) No signs of posibilities to pre order the real thing though, but it didn't supprise me. To be more serious, I think we will se some kind of announcement from Leica this autumn, followed by a release late next year
pascal_meheut Posted August 10, 2009 Share #125 Posted August 10, 2009 I'm glad to see that this forum is still full of newcomers who know nothing but think that being rude will make them credible The kind who will Google "pre-order" in English because it is available in France... BTW, when I reported the first M8 delivery in this exact forum, people asked for a self-portrait with the camera and I posted it. It started the usual message blitz on the German part because it was not possible that a french would have a M8 before them, and it was not an M8 but an MP because it had not the red Leica dot... Of course, some of my friends here told them I had the habit to hide it with black tape I'm not sure of the price, I'm not sure of the delivery date and as I said before, I'm quite surprised. But as I said before, this is a very reputable shop, that I spend a lot of time talking with the owner as I worked in the same street and that the guy knows his business. Maybe he is wrong on this one but that would be a first. P.S: here is the link but I guess some people will think that I forged a website because just like them, I would do anything to get some attention OBJECTIF BOETIE Spécialiste Leica, Nikon, Canon
sandymc Posted August 10, 2009 Share #126 Posted August 10, 2009 Don't know if this has been posted here already but the M9 can be pre-ordered in a french shop. 18Mpix, FF, 5500€, available september 09. IMHO, that would be a really good price for an FF M series. Surprisingly good, actually. Sandy

delander † Posted August 10, 2009 Share #130 Posted August 10, 2009 What would be so bad about 5500 Euro? Highish, but it is within 10% of current M8.2 price, and the original M8 cost 4200 Euro at introduction and had a high point of 4795 Euro. Here in the UK the current M8.2 price is around €4000 so at €5500 the M9 would be 37.5% more expensive. That is quite a lot in this economic climate. The market will compare a FF M9 nearer to a EOS 5D2 and similar cameras, not the built like a tank EOS 1Ds3. Jeff

Jeff They might, but it would be nonsense. The 5DII is not a rangefinder and mass-produced, which makes any comparison impossible.
Guest BigSplash Posted August 10, 2009 Share #133 Posted August 10, 2009 Apologies accepted, no harm done. I still find this hard to believe too Looking through the thread above........ IS THIS REALLY THE WAY THAT THE LEICA BRAND RELEASES THE LONG AWAITED M9 FULL FRAME CAMERA? > Rumour after Rumour, > Dealers do not know other dealers do know what is coming > Other dealers advertise a camera with an indicative price and delivery 10 Sept. but no spec. > Solms...no comment. > LFI .....no comment they are busy running a series since months about S2 R&D > Solms in the midst of all this announce their financial results which generates considerable comment....and raises many questions at a time both S2 and M9 are launched. Well it is a different approach I guess to marketing than I am used to. I hope it works
jaapv Posted August 10, 2009 Share #134 Posted August 10, 2009 Here in the UK the current M8.2 price is around €4000 so at €5500 the M9 would be 37.5% more expensive. On the continent the M8.2 is still 5000 Euro.It is not correct to judge the pricing of a successor product by the end-of-cycle price of its predecessor. One needs the real price. andybarton Posted August 10, 2009 Share #135 Posted August 10, 2009 If that happends, I will stand corrected, but until then, I have a hard time believeing that a comsumer available camera will hit the street in one month, when no one even have seen a prototype yet. Also a bit strange to pre order a camera that Leica don't comfirm? How do you know that no one has seen one yet? People who may have been using them will be under NDAs, so won't be on here or anywhere else talking about them

Yeh but the GBP price is a real price, anyone in the EU can buy it for that price. Is the M8.2 end of cycle? I thought that was the M8.
lct Posted August 10, 2009 Share #137 Posted August 10, 2009 In this same shop: M8.2: 4,995 EUR M9: 5,500 EUR Hard to believe such a small difference for a FF body.

jaapv Posted August 10, 2009 Share #139 Posted August 10, 2009 Yeh but the GBP price is a real price, anyone in the EU can buy it for that price. Is the M8.2 end of cycle? I thought that was the M8. If the M9 starts to be delivered in the second week of September it is indeed end of cycle, or to be continued at a lower price. The M8 has been phased out months ago. What you see now is dealer stock. I would not be surprised, btw, to see an IR filter-less 1.3x M8.3 appearing as a successor to the M8.2, say 1250 Euro under the M9. Caveat: no basis for a rumour, no insider information there.
delander † Posted August 10, 2009 Share #140 Posted August 10, 2009 They might, but it would be nonsense. The 5DII is not a rangefinder and mass-produced, which makes any comparison impossible. What I am trying to say here is that it is not right to justify the price of the M9 by comparison with that of the FF 1 series camera. It may be nearer in overall spec to the FF 5d2. A lot of people here seem to have a snobby attitude to Canon which is in no way justified. They produce a range of cameras and lenses at every price point for all to enjoy photography. And for all the uninformed views you read here their 1 series cameras with their L lenses perform superbly. Jeff
