I think I saw a place like this in the programme "Beneath Britain" (or something like that)... was it in the Lake District ?

There are a few caves like this around but my guess is Grotta Azzurra / Isola di Capri. (My Grandma sent me a postcard from there in the 60's )

I think this is in Greece. Is this the Melissani cave on Kefalonia where around noon when the sun shines it appears that the boat is flying?

Correct, a very interesting place, similar I'm told to the underground lakes in Mexico.

With a slight not so firm logic, I will say that it is in a place where there is land scarcity for construction. Could be Asian country? (NA and Europe ruled out already).
