ejd Posted September 11, 2006 Share #101 Posted September 11, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Christophe -- please add my name to your list of those taking part in the Challenge. The lure of matching or maybe even improving on last year's performance is too great! Null points last year. Paris in October is sure to be more inspiring. Regards, John

wbesz Posted September 13, 2006 Share #103 Posted September 13, 2006 Unfortunately I can't make it as I have decided to visit Solms and Photokina, and the dates are too far apart. But please remind Erl to grab a pile of snaps of you all at the meet, so we can see you in print on his return. Cheers, William
stunsworth Posted September 13, 2006 Author Share #104 Posted September 13, 2006 But please remind Erl to grab a pile of snaps of you all at the meet, so we can see you in print on his return. I'm not sure that would be such a good idea ;-)
bill Posted September 15, 2006 Share #105 Posted September 15, 2006 I think we should give a special prize to anyone who turns up with an M8... Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted September 15, 2006 Author Share #106 Posted September 15, 2006 I think we should give a special prize to anyone who turns up with an M8 I've been in touch with Leica in the UK and they are supplying a prize for the winner - but _no_, it isn't an M8 :-)
bill Posted September 15, 2006 Share #107 Posted September 15, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well done Steve! I tried that the first year, but they wouldn't play ball. Another example of a more savvy approach to their market, perhaps? Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted September 15, 2006 Author Share #108 Posted September 15, 2006 Bill, Leica are donating a signed copy of iWitness by Leica Photographer Tom Stoddart. Who knows there may be an M8 next year :-) They are also offering to feature the winning entries in the Leica Bulletin - though no promise on this, I guess it depends on if they have space. bill Posted September 15, 2006 Share #109 Posted September 15, 2006 We did get space in the Leica Bulletin the first year. It's a good move for them to recognise the actions of a group of supporters of the marque; it's a form of cheap publicity. Have you tried contacting Gerry Coward-Williams? Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted September 15, 2006 Author Share #110 Posted September 15, 2006 Is he the ed at AP? If so that's a good idea.
stunsworth Posted September 16, 2006 Author Share #111 Posted September 16, 2006 Well the book has arrived from Leica and pretty darn good it is too. Signed 'to a fellow Leica user' by the author. Fingers crossed that I win, otherwise I'll have to pay the postage to send it to the winner :-) There'll also be a little gift from Leica for all of the participants. kdemas Posted September 18, 2006 Share #114 Posted September 18, 2006 Well I almost made it over... I will be in Paris the last week of September. I wish you all a great shoot and I will surely be snapping away during my stay. Have fun! Kent

earleygallery Posted September 20, 2006 Share #116 Posted September 20, 2006 There'll also be a little gift from Leica for all of the participants. C-lux's all round? Good that Leica are providing some form of sponsorship again. How about asking them to provide a 'fleet' of M8's with the new 28mm lens, just for the day. Everyone has to use the same camera/lens combo and we get to try out the new camera It was excellent that they published some of our photos in the Bulletin following the first challenge, I treasure my copy, and it would be nice for them to do that again. Will also help promote the forum (as they don't mention it on their website any longer). Regards

stunsworth Posted September 20, 2006 Author Share #119 Posted September 20, 2006 James, don't get too excited. Anyone who took part in the first challenge in London might be able to guess what the individual presents are. Let's just say I'll be able to carry them all in my camera bag :-) As I mentioned earlier the book awaiting the winner is excellent. Pretty strong stuff in places, but highly memorable. Also a big thank you to Bill for writing the original rules. Thankfully we've managed to keep this a social get together as much as a competition. I know it's early days yet, but we ought to start thinking of next year's venue soon :-). One think that occurred to me was that if we'd held the event later in the year we'd all have been able to get the metro down to Maison du Leica in blvd Beaumarchais to gaze with longing at an M8 ;-)
robsteve Posted September 20, 2006 Share #120 Posted September 20, 2006 Steve, did you choose rue St Denis because of the piercing shops or because of the sex shops (not to mention les petites femmes de Paris) ? Fine by me, I'll be there too even if it is awfully close to my work Pascal: Do you work at the piercing shops or the sex shops Steve: I might just have to look into the flights. Do you have any accomodations lined up? Robert
