Interestingly, the TUV verified the power failure protection.

Thanks for sharing your opinions. but I really don't need to buy another branded cards.

I found Sandisk SD 2GB cards works fine without false errors.

As many others suggested here, I will format any new cards on my Mac and reformat it on M8.

It should resolve all nasty SD Card FULL error.

This just happened to me earlier this afternoon, unplugging my battery solved the problem though.

The same for me with two M8, with the Sandisk extreme III cards well running since years, but only after the last update to FW 2_014 I did on last May the 30th.

Please post here if you later on gets this false error again.

Because I've done everything but didn't work for me.

Currently, only solution for me, is to use Sandisk SD 2GB cards that works fine without false errors.

Sounds like you like those errors no? ;) Just kidding but 8GB cards can be very cheap now so i would buy a couple of non-Sandisk cards if i were you. My Transcends class 10 work flawlessly and cost me less than 15 euro each. FWIW.

I had the same (or very similar, my memory escapes me) error message last year, but resetting the image numbering solved it. Don't know if it will help you, but here is the way to do it:

:)Thank you so much for the real useful advice. The M8 is a great camera, though sometimes you need some practical advice to keep it operational.

I've recently begun to run into this message repeatedly, on different sizes and brands of card. The camera works fine, then either waking it from sleep or turning it on from off brings up the warning.

It's erratic, and in my case, turning the camera off and on again has cleared the problem each time.

The behavior has cost me a couple shots. :(

Any ideas?

I had this two days ago. SD card full.

Just before that I had a funny set of messages when browsing: just the name of the file, no image on the screen on the camera ... scary.

I took the card (Sandisk Extreme, 8 GB, old stock) in my PC, and . . . happily the about 200 pictures files were readable. I formatted it afterwards in camera. No problem again with this disk.

I will clean the contacts (good tip).

I do not think it is a camera problem, I have more than 30k shots with my camera, never had a flaw.

i don't want to lead this thread down a false path, but many of the users in this thread

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-sd-card-issues/219292-sandisk-extreme-pro-8-gb.html

(including me) also experienced problems with their storage cards showing full or becoming unusable well before their cards were completely full. in some cases (mine included) the cards were so blocked that they could not be addressed in the camera or card reader. others lost their data. others were able to use the card again only after extensive reformatting in a PC. you may see other similarities between problems in the link and your own thread.

good luck

I had this issue a few times now.

All I needed to do was:

- remove the card

- set the card lock lever to "Lock" position

- card back into the camera

- camera "on" and it shows "Locked" - naturally

- remove card and unlock

- card back into M8 ..and

Bob's your uncle.

Worked for me.

Cheers

In case you weren't aware, you answered a post from 16 years ago and the member last visited the forum 8 years ago so they probably won't receive your thanks.

" It's the thought that counts."

The proverb is credited to Henry van Dyke Jr., a professor at Princeton University, an ambassador to the Netherlands and Luxembourg, a Presbyterian clergyman who chaired the committee that printed The Book of Common Worship of 1906, the first printed Presbyterian liturgy, and was a friend to Helen Keller, as well as the officiant at Mark Twain’s funeral. Also a writer and poet, van Dyke coined the aphorism: “It is not the gift, but the thought that counts.” Van Dyke lived from 1852 to 1933. Note that as with many proverbs and idioms, only the latter half of the phrase is generally quoted.

Take the card out of the camera and format it on a computer. If it still reads full make sure the Lock lever isn't engaged.

There have been more reports of problems with SanDisc cards then any other. Persoanlly I don't use any SanDisc cards. I use Lexar and never had a problem in any camera or other device.

I’m having the same issue with a 32GB Lexar card.  I’ve never encountered this before.  It’s baffling.

Thank you! I started shooting with the M8 when it first hit the market and never had this issue.  I replaced that camera with the M9 Monochrom when that hit the market and never had that issue.  I replaced the M9M with a Q2M about 2 years ago.  Recently I picked up a used M8 and the SD card started acting up tonight.  I did as you suggested and it’s working again.  Live and learn.  I’m using a 32GB Lexar.  Again, thanks for the tip!
