FWIW my take on this. If I recall correctly I remember having to state which film AND speed we were using in previous challenges. The first one in London was mostly all shot with film but there were a couple of Digilux 3 users.

I think the fundamental point is the restriction of camera body/lens/film or ISO. Choosing your parameters and having to stick to them, within reason. Thats why its OK to use a zoom but you have to stick to one focal length.

Yes you can tweak the shot in the darkroom or on PS but choosing say FP4 or ISO 160 and then halfway through deciding that 1600 willl give you the shot you want isn't in the spirit of the thing.

Just my opinion. I'm happy for Bill to make the final decision on this too.

I'll second that.

Right.

As this is the play what I wrote :D, I shall make a judgement.

The first One Challenge, back all those years ago actually had 12 entrants. Only one entrant used a digital camera - an LC-1 - and it was me. I fixed my ISO (and focal length, as - I think - I was also the only one using a zoom), declared it and didn't change it.

In the simple spirit and the letter of the One Challenge, I therefore rule:

Thou shalt not use Auto ISO unless and until all entrants are using cameras with that facility.

Ok?

Regards,

Bill

OK> So does that mean only M8's can be used this year? :D :D

M6, Summicron 50 and BW400CN

The M6 works, obviously. This means there will be at least one participant without auto ISO. Unless we take Andy's vote and count the BW400CN as auto-ISO ;)

By the way, the subject of the photo is a friend before he had his coffee. I look the same if I don't have any coffee until 11:00 ;)

Having taken part in all the 'One challenges' so far and greatly enjoyed them, I would have loved to be able to join the gang in Krakow -- sounds a great weekend in prospect -- but unfortunately this year other commitments prevent it. I look forward to the reports and the pictures. All the best, John

Just did a quick roll call. We have (including partners etc although I don't know if everyone is taking part?) 15 confirmed attendees and 1 maybe.

For dinner so far we have 13 confirmed.

Anymore for anymore?

do you have a list of the honourable challengers of 2008?

(so sorry, i'm a young and lazy person, not too keen on scrolling through eight pages hunting for the names ;) )
