Michael-IIIf Posted June 17, 2008 Share #21 Posted June 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Amazing what everyone can produce from a casual hours strolling around! Impressive indeed. I think the difference is this time we actually walked around rather than sitting the pub as we usually do I really enjoyed it as a format and would love to repeat the formula elsewhere. The way the public interacted with a group of Leica-heads - the leery geezers etc - was a large part of the fun for me. Maybe the Olympic Village next? Nick De Marco Posted June 17, 2008 Share #22 Posted June 17, 2008 Why not have a street photography outing once every month, or once every two months? Even if we can't all make each one, it creates an intersting project
spylaw4 Posted June 17, 2008 Share #23 Posted June 17, 2008 Impressive indeed. The way the public interacted with a group of Leica-heads - the leery geezers etc - was a large part of the fun for me. Maybe the Olympic Village next? Beware of the security dogs! A great bunch of shots from you all, and I second Michael's request for a repeat - maybe every 2 months or so? I too am amazed at the quality of the Mountain Elmar shot on the M8. BTW I only finished Saturday's film today so my shots will be a few days yet.
farnz Posted June 17, 2008 Share #24 Posted June 17, 2008 Why not have a street photography outing once every month, or once every two months?Even if we can't all make each one, it creates an intersting project Sounds like a good idea to me. What are the criteria we're looking for? Here's some suggestions that 'slid' off the top of my head (trying to keep it simple so as not to rule out 'possibles') Visual interest, eg an event or an interesting place - or both Not too busy An agreeable venue for refreshments Perhaps Columbia market, although that can get quite busy from time to time and it's on a Sunday, or another market such as Borough market? What do you think? (Is this the right place for this discussion or would it be better in the Forum Members Meeting forum?) Pete
spylaw4 Posted June 17, 2008 Share #25 Posted June 17, 2008 Probably best in the Meetings forum. Borough Market would be good but it does get very crowded (tourists with cameras you know!).
earleygallery Posted June 18, 2008 Share #26 Posted June 18, 2008 I'll reply here for the moment. I reckon every couple of months would work, I liked the casual format of the last meet and there's no shortage of areas to shoot in and around London (London is at least relatively easy for most people to get to). Not so sure about specific events - I enjoyed finding 'treasures' down the quiet backstreets which I'd probably never have bothered walking down. I think it works best if informal - someone to propose a venue/date and take it from there? I think someone mentioned Hampstead next?....

Nick De Marco Posted June 18, 2008 Share #28 Posted June 18, 2008 Very nice Ivor I have been thinking of trying one of those lenses on my M8 - you have made me more curious now I think Borough Market is a good idea too for a meet up walkabout, and nice snacks after. South bank a possibility. Maybe Speakers Corner one weekend. Islington (I could do a tour there). But someone suggested Hamstead as the next one and that seems fine to me. Let's have it asap (August anyone?). For myself, Sunday's are better than Saturdays - especially during the football season - but sometimes I guess Saturdays make for better photography
Red Dot Cameras Posted June 18, 2008 Share #29 Posted June 18, 2008 Hi Sunday is good for me, as I sometimes open the shop on a Sat. Ivor
Tim B Posted June 18, 2008 Share #30 Posted June 18, 2008 Good suggestions for further meetings. I'm up for any of them. If Hampstead is thought to be a good idea I agree that summertime would be preferable. But I cannot do Sundays until perhaps 1.30 pm - 2.00 pm depending on travelling time. Perhaps if we are going to do a series of meetings we could do alternate days to suit the different needs of the members. Does anyone think that if we meet too often numbers might be quite small and we might loose something of the rather special atmosphere that we enjoyed last week? On the other hand we might gain a different sort of atmosphere which could also be agreeable. Tim

ejd Posted June 19, 2008 Share #32 Posted June 19, 2008 A couple of pictures from our walk and the pub. As it happens, I live there. So I should know something about it. Would be happy to convene a gathering and lead a tour around the streets. elansprint72 Posted June 19, 2008 Share #33 Posted June 19, 2008 What a scary bunch of individuals; Lord Barton's XI are far more handsome. I'd begun to think that all you folks in "that London" had bought Leicas which only worked in the beer-house. Great to see the different interpretations and viewpoints which you folks come up with when walking the same streets; I've noticed the same phenom from our Northern walk-abouts. So, what about the rest of the UK- any other groups out there?

I've started a new thread http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/forum-member-meetings/56594-hampstead-london-stroll.html#post587172 in the Forum Members Meeting forum for a proposed Hamstead outing to save it from being lost here. Please post indications of Hampstead interest there. Pete.
