Advertisement Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Hi Guest stnami, Take a look here Interesting accessory for you M8 chaps. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
AlanJW Posted June 3, 2008 Share #42 Posted June 3, 2008 I would actually like this if they could make it with a hand grip. I too am an amateur and I will frequently want to get those files off the card before it is even close to being filled. Of course having a Leica means dealing with and tolerating idiosyncracies like having to remove the baseplate.
Guest jimmy pro Posted June 3, 2008 Share #43 Posted June 3, 2008 I've got dents from holding the baseplate between my teeth in all of them since the M3 - they fit perfectly - I won't be getting this one - too sterile I've just invented the perfect solution for everybody who currently holds the baseplate in there mouth (no, not what your thinking, that would be rude and gross ) I call it "the shirt pocket". Venkman Posted June 3, 2008 Share #44 Posted June 3, 2008 Don't see much difference in opening the flap covering the card slot to removing the base, but maybe that's just me and me being not the target group The pricing is probably adequate, but so is the sapphire glass pricing Dirk

Guest jimmy pro Posted June 3, 2008 Share #48 Posted June 3, 2008 Ah, but Jimmy - gentlemen don't have shirt pockets. So where the hell do they keep there cigarets? Here in the USA dress shirts all got pockets, except tux shirts. Polo's and tee's not so much. Won't work in the sauna..... Neither will the M8 for long:eek: That's why I always put it between right ear and head... a trick I learned from barbers... Given the cost of a haircut nowadays I'm not surprized your barber has an M8
fotografr Posted June 3, 2008 Share #49 Posted June 3, 2008 Seems like a nice, well made product. But I really don't get this, "gotta have it right now" mentality. So it takes a few seconds to remove the baseplate and put it back on. Big deal. It wasn't all that long ago that we had to take off the baseplate AND remove and process a roll of film before ever getting to see a single image. Ah yes, but in the USA, you also think nothing of wearing striped ties "bend sinister", or with the stripes running to the left, rather than "bend dexter", or to the right. In heraldic terms, bend sinister denotes illegitimacy... And of course a gentleman keeps his cigarettes in his silver cigarette case in his inside jacket pocket. That's what my tailor tells me, anyway. Regards, Bill
photolandscape Posted June 3, 2008 Share #51 Posted June 3, 2008 It looks pretty good to me. I find that at 70 degrees F and above, I can shoot about 4GB worth of photos with the M8 before I have to worry about the battery. If you're doing photojournalism, documentary work--anything where you need to move fast and don't want to waste time changing SD cards, this could be a good accessory. On the other hand, I now use the Leica baseplate with handgrip, so I'd have to factor that into the decision. Question--does this new baseplate come with the plastic protective coating on it? Guest Olof Posted June 3, 2008 Share #53 Posted June 3, 2008 I know how rarely some of you venture out of the M8 Forum into the Forum proper, so you may have missed Luigi's posting drawing people's attention to this: M This seems to solve at least one of the things that I have heard people gripe about. Regards, Bill Nice idea, but changing the battery in this way, would be a greater help for me.
