Such a great design, still one of my favourite looking cars. I came close to buying one when I first started driving, so wish I had! M2 & 35mm Skopar.

Beautiful picture, but you wring my heart!

I bet the BW image hides a beige Pallas model, the same I owned for 8 years back in the seventies. I wish they were still built, they would still be the best!

The kids are now in their late thirties…

Thanks for the replies.

Steve, funny you should mention, I thought that there was a classic car gathering nearby as there were a few other intersting cars in the area. Indeed here is another photo of the car which was parked next to the DS, and no Max, it wasn't yours, it was silver not beige :D

Nice shot. The look of the car brings back memories. One of my neighbors had a green one when I was growing up. Just a couple of weeks ago I saw an estate/station wagon version of the DS here in Oslo. Can't remember seeing one before.

A carefully captured photo, James, and an especially nostalgic context for the DS.

It's difficult now, I suppose, to appreciate the impact this car must have created when it first appeared in the mid-fifties at a time when most vehicles still looked as if out of the Keystone Cops. It's also a reminder that up until its virtual disappearance within the Peugeot group, Citroen was always innovative in both engineering and design.

Max - a very evocative shot. And yes, there are some cars (like cameras) that you wish you had never let go.

Cheers, Ken.

Thank you for your commiseration Ken.

Proof that I nonetheless have a heart: my 30 years-old second-hand Nocti is practically glued on the M8.

Ah, that's made me come over all misty-eyed...got rid of my DS last year! An extraordinary engineering tour de force, and probably the best car I've ever owned (and certainly the most comfortable). Thanks for bringing back the meory.

cheers:

Sam

The DS Station ! A relative of mine had one abot 30 years ago... I remember well it had a little third row of seats to accomodate a pair of children (and he had six, indeed...)

The DS Cabrio (Chapron) was another memorable version, but the real queen was anyway "La Deèsse"

Nice shot of a unique designed car. While talking about the technology of these rides, please don´t forget the ups and downs of Citroen (haha, like the hydro-pneumatic suspension system). Back in the 70´s and 80´s they had a lot of problems. Btw., the design of the new C5/C6 is also kind of avantgarde. Especially the C5 looks interesting.
