Advertisement Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Leica DMR. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
topoxforddoc Posted July 2, 2009 Share #62 Posted July 2, 2009 Having mulled it over last evening, I have decided NOT to buy the R8/DMR from my local dealer - other items take priority unfortunately (fast M lenses) so if anyone wants one you can contact them via sales@cambrianphoto.co.uk. Cambrian Photograph in Colwyn Bay are an authorised Leica dealer and I have dealt with them for 25 years and have found them to be excellent. (Other than buying far too much from them I have no other connection!). They can't split the R8/DMR because they have no back for the camera!!! Price is just under £2k. Hope it finds a good home. I bought that one last august (DMR plus R8) for GBP 1695. Charlie
andybarton Posted July 2, 2009 Share #63 Posted July 2, 2009 You do know you cannot Leitax zoom lenses? I didn't, but I don't have any anyway. I want to use my 28 and
leicamr Posted July 2, 2009 Share #64 Posted July 2, 2009 I have just ordered my second DMR over the phone, unseen from a Leica dealer. Based on the described "Like new" condition, boxed etc.. I have paid £2500. I have an approval period, so if the condition doesn't match the price paid I will return it. I have had a casual look for a second / backup DMR for the past 9 months. I did handle one last December, but the condition didn't do it for me and the asking price was about £1800. I have probably missed some real bargains with R8 / 9 bodies included, but now that the expected Leica digital solution is not to be (for now anyway), DMR prices do indeed appear to have increased. I wait in anticipation for the post tomorrow. regards Mark
Overgaard Posted July 2, 2009 Share #65 Posted July 2, 2009 The DMR is still state of the art and I consider getting a backup. Just did this tonight at Roskilde Festival, R8/DMR 35-70/2.8 @ 200 ISO More here: http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?EventId=88755807 You should see the Nikon and Canon shots from the same. Looke like Xerox copies (in color tough ;-) Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! leicamr Posted July 3, 2009 Share #66 Posted July 3, 2009 Hi Thorsten, Lovely work, as always. I was on a family holiday in Roskilde in 1980. Denmark is a beautiful country. regards Mark
leicamr Posted July 4, 2009 Share #67 Posted July 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) The DMR arrived and it is exactly as described. I am one very happy chappy. I only phoned the dealer to buy an all matt DMR focus screen which is now unavailable. Mark Welcome, dear visitor! rsolomon Posted July 5, 2009 Share #68 Posted July 5, 2009 Enjoy the DMR's great tool. i hope it came with a wheeled camera bag - 2 DMR will be quite heavy
jaapv Posted July 6, 2009 Share #69 Posted July 6, 2009 Actually, it is not very heavy. It is more like large. But the ergonomics are so good, the best I ever saw -felt on any camera, that it becomes an extension of your hand.
Overgaard Posted July 6, 2009 Share #70 Posted July 6, 2009 It's so "light" you actually feel the difference between R8 and R9 (which is 100 gram). I think if the camera was heavy, you wouldn't notice a 100 g difference. Looking at those pictures of the R8/DMR and R9/DMR I get an urge to get one more DMR... rsolomon Posted July 6, 2009 Share #71 Posted July 6, 2009 i had a used a DMR for years before selling it -- it was heavy....i upgraded to the R9 for the 100 gram difference --- still heavy.... thats my opinion ofcourse

robsteve Posted July 13, 2009 Share #74 Posted July 13, 2009 i had a used a DMR for years before selling it -- it was heavy....i upgraded to the R9 for the 100 gram difference --- still heavy.... thats my opinion ofcourse It is all relative to what you are used to. I was used to a Canon 1D, so the DMR, was actually smaller and lighter If you are coming from a prosumer Canon or Nikon, the DMR is heavy in comparison. roguewave Posted July 13, 2009 Share #75 Posted July 13, 2009 It's delightful to read this chatter about my favorite camera. Thorsten, that wedding shot is quite beautiful. I wish you & Rob would post more of your work, even if it's just "work". It's a pleasure to enjoy & educational for me. I always like to stay referenced with other images from the DMR that can further my skills.
Overgaard Posted July 13, 2009 Share #76 Posted July 13, 2009 Thanks. I never post pictures in the gallery here, mostly because I don't feel like it. No particular reason. But you are welcome to join my weekly newsletter with pictures and stuff. Just e-mail me or enter your mail in the top of the page of my website. Here's by the way a story from last week that will keep you busy for a few minutes as there's an accompanying slideshow to it ;-) leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Pages - The Story Behind That Picture
koray Posted July 14, 2009 Share #77 Posted July 14, 2009 Yes. Who cares for weight when you get results..? Wonderful shots, Thorsten. Hard to believe that they are coming from a digital sensor, skin colours are so natural. I don't know how an EOS 30D sensor compares to DMR, but I know I could never achieve these colours and the vibrancy when I had it. Excellent. K.
