I wonder when it will be available here in the US?… Perhaps like a Q but without AF or OIS.

It would not be the first time that they overestimated, particularly in an internet age where a small vocal group can easily skew estimates. As I said earlier - remember the X-Vario, Digilux 3 and hot-potato drop of the CL system? I wish them that they are right - but I would not bet too much on it. They sure priced it to recover R&D with as few sales as possible. 3

How much cheaper could it be than the M11 with included RF mechanism vs included Q3's EVF?
rramesh Posted October 25 Share #405 Posted October 25 From the reviews of this camera it seems to me that Leica should have just named this the M11-O (Optician/Optometrist) edition. Seems that this release is not making any dramatic improvements to a Leica camera

And was not the argument that the RF is extremely time intensive to manufacture.

And doers it use the same battery as the M11-P ? No (same as from M11 to M11-P) and yes.

How much cheaper could it be than the M11 with included RF mechanism vs included Q3's EVF? Without any insight in the production costs that is an unanswerable question. But we do know that the price of the RF mechanism is in the range of over 1500 EUR, that there is no need to diverge from the supply of sensors and other electronic parts and the retooling for mechanical bits must be minimal. The price margin will be set by sales expectations.

Same as the person with the 1953 name. I see mostly 70+ year olds defending the camera and its half hearted execution. I may be the person you mean (😁) but if this camera was aimed at me, then it failed. I’m 70+ and will stick to AF for digital and MF for film. But I can still see a market for this camera with people with different experience, age, shooting practice, physical characteristics, confidence levels, income and simple wants. I seriously doubt this camera was targeted at 70+ old timers; I think it was intended to draw in a new audience for Leica. 95% of a younger age group of photographers will be uninterested in manual focusing and no IBIS, but Leica - with its prices - has never aimed for the mass market. They are doing comfortably in their small niche. They only need to attract a small percentage of the photography market to be a success. Saying: “Oh well, we just couldn’t figure out how to run the EVF at 120hz or create new focusing aids.” Does not seem like quality engineering to me, because yes electrical and software are also part of the engineering experience. Eugene Young Posted October 25 Share #414 Posted October 25 I really do not understand the price of this camera. They take out AF and most importantly Lux lens from Q3 and then pricing much more than Q3. The price of this so called M v1 , 5 grands, at most 6 grandish would be enough.
Alistairm Posted October 25 Share #415 Posted October 25 Price is crazy. And I just learned the lenses don’t even autofocus. What are they thinking? 1

The highest specification does not always mean the most desirable quality. I do not think that any of us is qualified to judge a design decision without any knowledge of the reasons behind it, and based on a single number too. So far the comments on the EVF are more than positive, that is what counts.
