I'd bet they will release the M11-V in 2026 not long before the M12 w/rangefinder is released. They'll probably make both of them at the same time for a few years, waiting to release the M12-V until the M12 is near the end of its run.

I’ll take that bet. Pick a dollar amount.

Sportsman's bet from me, no dollars but my prediction is that it comes this year. It's a new option that Leica has not tested the market with yet. Releasing it close to the M12 could impact sales of either/both models. If it is successful, it could well be that we see an M12-V earlier in the cycle. It could even be that the M12 is not finalised and the response to the M11-V will have a bearing on Leica's direction somewhat.

Not random, but amazing: the Visoflex 2 is now US$1510.😱

Bring on the M-V, please.

It's Made in China, hence the Donald tax.

Wouldn’t that one increase in price as well? It is not unlikely to be made of parts made in China.

But you have to wonder if Leica is being a bit passive aggressive ("you voted for this"). They could have easily absorbed some of the tariffs on accessories.

Why should they? Even if they absorbed pat of the tariff, they would sell fewer. They would have to take a double hit.

Absorbing complete 145% seems a bit much. There is talk that it could be reduced to 80%, but I would not be surprised if they are increased to 200% instead.

Leica have proven themselves flexible when it comes to tariffs in the past:

For a short period, they assembled and did final testing of lens from kits manufactured in Portugal, in Portugal itself, rather as usual in Germany.

The same could be done for Visoflex and batteries; assembling and testing the parts kits from China in Portugal.

I don't really see why Leica would have to absorb all or even most of the tariffs started by Trump. It is sad that prices of many things will go up and are already rising, but it is a US policy problem in the first place. When companies like Leica are supposed to swallow such measures, they may as well close their doors because it would mean a license for anybody in power to do the same.

Quite. But give them some time.

On the one hand, Leica should of course not suffer for the idiocy of the current president.

On the other hand, luxury brands that position themselves such as Leica generally have extremely generous margins. I don’t know Leica’s margins but I would wager that they are higher than other camera manufacturers. Smaller scale, yes, but as a percentage I’m sure much healthier per unit. Feel free to correct me, but I know that their competitors in brands like Rolex and Vuitton essentially try to think of what would be the greediest nonsense they could get away with, and then add another 20% on top for retail.

Mainly because it makes the products for which the batteries are made for unappealing even for the luxury buyer. We may be the crazy ones, but we're not insane. Their $200 batteries were $120 overpriced to begin with.
