jps1 Posted October 23 Share #3722 Posted October 23 Yes, it's a Q with interchangeable lenses.
carlosgavina Posted October 23 Share #3723 Posted October 23 (edited) Just me or is there nothing novel about the focus aid? I was hoping for at least something similar to what Nikon does, where they highlight eyes on the frame and when zooming in while focusing it automatically zooms in on the eyes? Is it just the same experience as an SL then? Edited October 23 by carlosgavina 3

Dazzajl Posted October 23 Share #3726 Posted October 23 Well, I do wish they could have been a little braver and sprung something game changing, like the X100 and X-Pro all those decades back. I’m sure it will feel wonderful to shoot with and if one has the cash to play with, it does look so much more elegant than using an SL for the same results. 1

costa43 Posted October 23 Author Share #3730 Posted October 23 So its 8 grand for a better visoflex experience. It's a pass from me until there is more innovation in focus assist.

summicron75 Posted October 23 Share #3733 Posted October 23 (edited) this is supremely underwhelming. The only positive seems to be the lower weight. Battery life (around 230 with the EVF) is absurd, price is 8.000€, aesthetics are meh (personal opinion, I know), and I would be extremely hesitant buying this given the lack of opacity and laziness from Leica about the myriad software (and hardware) issues that may well carry over from the M11. Will happily stick with my 10-R and 10-M. Anyone else feel like they are continuing to take the piss a little...? It is a frustrating experience wanting to support a once innovative and reliable company when they release things like this and trumpet them as innovative and barrier-breaking. The last couple of lines from DPreview say it best for me: "After a few minutes of shooting with an M9, I understood why someone might buy a rangefinder. After a few days with the M-EV1, I'm at a loss to why anyone would buy this instead." Edited October 23 by summicron75 typo 1

costa43 Posted October 23 Author Share #3735 Posted October 23 I've just read Jono's review and the good news for M11 owners is there is a positive firmware update likely on the way for white balance adjustment. The EV1 has it already, I see no reason that it will not be passed on to the rest of us.

But at this price, it's a pure joke 1

evikne Posted October 23 Share #3738 Posted October 23 (edited) They chose to play it safe. We got what we asked for: an M with a built-in EVF instead of the rangefinder. Nothing more, nothing less. Edited October 23 by evikne 5
lct Posted October 23 Share #3739 Posted October 23 Nothing Q besides the EVF apparently. Mainly an M11 with a built-in EVF as imagined since the beginning. One difference could be focus aids though. Something new related to the maintained RF window perhaps?
