I have my M10-R glossy black paint sitting in front of me. It's the same. The shading on the pic makes it look very slightly different.

I have no experience with the M10 but i still hope the thumb rest of the EVF-M offers a better grip than that of my M11 as it seems to look on the photo. Flu Posted yesterday at 04:00 PM Share #3504 Posted yesterday at 04:00 PM The worldwide announcement is still happening as planned, it’s just the USA party and sales that are postponed. Not sure about Canada.

And I don't have an M11, but there's this amazing thing called 'looking.' And it looks just like an M11 rest, which looks just like an M10 rest. Not everything has to ride on personal experience. algrove Posted yesterday at 04:32 PM Share #3507 Posted yesterday at 04:32 PM (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Elsewhere some thought it could be lack of US FCC approval, but that seems highly unlikely as Leica is not new to US regulations (unless the government shutdown has affected FCC approval). That said I had the understanding that inventory had already been delivered to Leica owned US stores. EDIT-Leica noticed that this thread had not hit 200 pages so they are delaying US release until we get it to 200. I can hardly comment about your own experience but my modest one tought me that in spite of close similarities, the thumb rest of my M11 is not designed the same way as that of my M240, to the point that the accessory thumb rest of the latter does not fit on the M11. Seems like i will have to wait and see if there are actual differences between the M11 and the EVF-M in this regard.
costa43 Posted yesterday at 04:48 PM Author Share #3509 Posted yesterday at 04:48 PM With it being just the US that has had its events cancelled, could it not just be that there are a bunch of EVF Ms stuck in customs and are unlikely to be released in time for Thursday. At least I hope it’s as simple as this.
Markey Posted yesterday at 04:49 PM Share #3510 Posted yesterday at 04:49 PM If this is an M but with an EVF instead of an RF it could possibly cause a run on Leica glass both new and old. Easier focussing for those who have never used an RF

But not more pronounced. The shading actually makes it look more convex, which I would say wouldn't be an improvement. The body of the M240 and the M11 are different, so of course they wouldn't be the same (and even if they were, the extra thickness of the M240 would make it feel different in hand). The M10 and M11 are very close all around except the insides and base. But yeah, I'm sure it will be the same but better, because the money being spent it had better be even if it's just in the mind. Coincidentally, Tedium just ran a post about the history of FCC certification for electronic devices: https://tedium.co/2025/10/20/computers-fcc-rf-interference-history/ The new camera can not be sold in the US without such certification, but that's a tiny consequence of a greater issue that Americans are already aware of. There appear to be air travel disruptions in Germany and the EU right now. But also disruptions in the US regarding government services (a shut down, other politics of which I say no more, and should probably not be part of this EVF-M discussion in any event) - which could include immigration and air-traffic control services. Key personnel for the events may not be able to get to or into the US at the moment. One (non-political) example (Frankfurt being the home-town airport for Wetzlar). But just the tip of the iceberg... https://www.airhelp.com/en-int/flight-disruptions/frankfurt-munich-airport-delays-cancellations-19102025/ Just happen to travel today via Munich and Frankfurt, currently in FRA (right now at 1900 hrs, 21 Oct.) and the air traffic seems normal. US Government shutdown? It is good to hear that the camera is being released elsewhere. The FCC approval should follow soon enough. William
algrove Posted yesterday at 07:00 PM Share #3515 Posted yesterday at 07:00 PM (edited) I now wonder if Leica US Stores were involved in the cyberattack in the last days. I know Amazon had trouble yesterday and I hear Meta still is having issues. Leica Miami (RedDotForim) was also hit. This could be good reason to delay the US events and sales. Tobers Posted yesterday at 07:31 PM Share #3517 Posted yesterday at 07:31 PM I am quite intrigued by this EVF M. The reason I sold my M10 and 24/50/90 lenses was because it seemed pointless having such gorgeous lenses if focusing them was so tricky for me. I’m a long-term M user, but was finding it increasingly difficult to focus the 24 and 50 Summiluxes at f/1.4 and the 90 AA Cron was extremely hard at f/2. So I sold up, and now have a Q3 which is excellent, as well as a Ricoh GR3x HDF. I now finding myself pondering how good an EVF M would be. It could bring a new lease of life to the M system which I so loved using and owning. But my Q is totally awesome. However…being able to have 24, 50 and 75 M lenses (I’d skip the 90 this time) would be brilliant. I’m waiting for the announcement with some eagerness.

maxpower Posted yesterday at 07:46 PM Share #3519 Posted yesterday at 07:46 PM Back/screen looks the same as on the M11 to me yeah. I also can't imagine them trying to change too much on the body, if it's based on M11 (even if technically not an "M11" by name) why would they create an entirely new body instead of just trying to optimise reuse of what they're already producing. Plus they need to make sure there are things to "improve" for the M EV2!

I’m curious as to the average age of a Leica RF-M owner, and how that compares to other Leicas (eg Q’s). Could the EVF-M be a way to keep us old guys with a cabinet full of M-lenses in the game as age takes its toll on our eyes?
