I believe it was at an LSI meeting that Stefan Daniel was asked to produce an EVF-M. It would be the right event to announce such a camera.

Yes, it was the Dublin meeting. He was unequivocal at the time, and challenged the LSI to come up with 1000 orders if I remember correctly. He was sporting the yet to be announced 'new' M6 at the event.

isn't the october 23rd thingy for the Q3-monochrom?

That would be my guess! Plus possibly a lens or two.

Let the speculation continue. But my guess is no better than anyone else on the Forum as thankfully I have no 'inside knowledge' whatsoever!

The rumor about a presentation of a new M with electronic viewfinder only on October 23rd is obviously confirmed:

This is the day of an event at Wetzlar with Peter Karbe with the title "M like Magic - the fascination of the optical rangefinder" (my translation, the event is only announced in German):

(I wonder what the "rumor" site will make out of my posting as they are even posting mockups of the "new" camera made up by readers.)

Is there any indication if the M EV1 will be based on an M camera body or a Q? IMO it would be much easier for Leica to create a M mount into the Q, than integrating an EVF into a M. And it would have the benefit of IBIS.

The Q3 has a combined lens, leaf shutter, OIS and sensor assembly; all this needs to be replaced with a M-mount, mechanical shutter, a new sensor board, with possibly a IBIS drive assembly. M just needs EVF optics. Either way there will be compromises; Leica should engage with the community during the launch event, and show us their development pains, so we understand.

Why would a presentation of a EVF talk of the fascination of the optical rangefinder? Leica have been promoting the rangefinder in last few months, with a big article in LFI and some other publicity.

whats more interesting is the release date:

Expected release date is 30th Nov 2025

Yes in noticed that and wondered if there was a difference between the “presentation” date and the “launch” or just that that was when they thought they might be able to get any for sale 🤔

You have just quoted it. I wrote that the rumor was confirmed. Isn’t that enough? I think I am fully entitled to start my own rumors based on my own sources like others do as well. That‘s enough. Believe me or not.

Too complicated for me... Please forget my question.

The shutter and stabilization of Q cameras are integrated in Q's lens, not the body. Q's sensor is likely tuned to the Q's lens.

prolly easier with a M-mount-modified-grip-less SL body...

hmmm maybe it was here all along ;)
