There is no need for the front window.

I hope they make it much cleaner, and remove everything that is not required, instead of making something 'fake' just to ape traditional design.

I always find it amusing how they do this, when the original designs were pure function.  This is what the M should be -aka the essential.

This is a very unfortunate choice of photo and colour for an example 😱

https://leicarumors.com/2025/03/22/leica-m11-v-is-the-name-of-the-rumored-leica-m-camera-with-evf-and-the-official-announcement-is-coming-soon.aspx/

The name of the upcoming Leica M camera with EVF is rumored to be Leica M11-V. Some internal sources referred to the camera as Leica M-V, but I believe the final model version will be Leica M11-V, just like the M11-D, M11-P, and the M11-M (the M with EVF model will be based on the M11-P).

The official announcement is coming soon: the latest beta version of the Leica Fotos App already contains references for the Leica M11-V model, which suggests the official announcement will be in the next few weeks.

I hope they have one but I also hope that it serves a function and it’s not just for aesthetics.

An EVF camera does not need a rangefinder window nor a viewfinder one and it is hard to imagine any alternative use for a fake one.

Just paint one on. They did it with our new ferry😆 (I joke not).

Hope it has a big super big super highrez viewfinder-a new standard better and bigger than what is in the marketplace now for those of us with glasses and aging eyesight.  Something like that might not fit the traditional M aesthetic but boy would it be fun to use and be different.

It could keep an optical viewfinder window as well. After all the Barnacks had two viewfinders: one for framing, and one for focusing.

The EVF viewfinder seems to be right on the other side, so you won't be able to see through it, I guess?

Split images and RF's still work for vision impaired photographers. Trust me, I know.

I dont think it's an issue with focussing on the RF, more framing is where the problems are [for me anyway].

Hopefully soon we will this camera, and if it isn what I need I think it will be the end of me and M cameras, and off I go to Auto land where the L mount shines.

Umm - what? The posted "leaked" M11-V picture is of the back of the camera.

And the viewfinder eyepiece (top-left on the back) is pretty much exactly where it is on every other M since 1954 (except, since lct will correct me if I leave them out, the "blind" MD/MDa/MD-2 "technical" M cameras for use on telescopes, microscopes, etc. 🤪 ).

.....................

IF TRUE AND ACCURATE:

1) it is interesting that, since an EVF can be crammed in anywhere, Leica chose to stick with the 70-year-old "PITA for left-eye-dominant photographers," top-left corner EVF eyepiece. It could easily have been centered, providing "equal inconvenience for everyone."

But since all the other "looks like a Leica M" EVF cameras (Fuji X series, Leica P&S, misc. others) also inconvenience left-eyed photographers, I guess it just is part of "retaining the M experience/connection."

Won't bother me - I am right-eye-dominant anyway.

2) the image showing the focus aid option of a computer-graphics-simulation of a split/coincident-image focus-aid is very intriguing. Bottom right among the four viewfinder options images.

Depends on how well the actual execution conforms to the publicity photo. Fuji tried this, but I found it fuzzy, useless, slow, and unbelievably "low rent" compared to the real deal. Almost as "low rent" as the color-crayon-scribbles known as "focus peaking." 😆
