JimmyCheng Posted January 25 Share #1  Posted January 25 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica's QA has really been pissing me off lately. I just bought this M11-D, fired up, paired with my phone, took 2 shots, perfectly fine. I updated the firmware and fully charged the battery and left it. But when I turn it on this morning,  the viewfinder says 'bc', which apparently is a low-battery warning. It will then turn itself off after about 1 second. The battery is fully charged and works on my M11. The real pain is, I can't make it stay alive long enough to connect to the phone app or check any further firmware update. Oh well ... I don't suppose any of you have had this issue? Since I could not find anything online. Hence this post. I want to love this camera, love its design, it's perfect. But if these kind of issues continue to arise, I am really worried about this brand. Edited January 25 by JimmyCheng
Advertisement Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Hi JimmyCheng, Take a look here M11-D 'bc' issue even when fully charged.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Overgaard Posted January 25 Share #2 Â Posted January 25 Can't you connect a USB-C cable to charge it and that way connect to it? Â
Knorp Posted January 25 Share #3 Â Posted January 25 Apparently that 'new' battery is no longer properly recognized in your M11-D, but it shows full charge in your M11. Try your 'old' M11 battery in the M11-D to see if that helps.

I can't turn on/off the connection by pressing down the wheel for 12 sec, nor can I use the fn button to toggle the display info. And of course, I am not able to connect to the phone app. Edited January 25 by JimmyCheng
Knorp Posted January 25 Share #6 Â Posted January 25 I had a sort of a battery issue once or twice shortly after I had purchased my M11-P, can't recall seen an error code, but the camera wouldn't start to my horror. Anyway, when the battery is inserted there is this tiny bit of play, because of the spring underneath, when you press it slightly down further. It sounds silly perhaps, but ever since right after inserting the battery I always quickly press it down a few times.

But I think it's a software issue, it was working just fine. I think it's the firmware update that killed it. (I did follow the steps and wait till the red light is not blinking for it to finish, and some more time before turning if off)
J S H Posted January 25 Share #8  Posted January 25 Can you do a full reset with the M11-D? If so, probably worth trying.
jakontil Posted January 25 Share #9 Â Posted January 25 a concerning issues, yet random after upgrading the firmware.. I seem to be the only case where after updating to latest firmware, my wifi won't stick with 5GHz and always revert back to 2.4GHz after each restart.. it's m11 bp

Viewfinder shows nothing. It shuts down after a few seconds if not connected to usb-c. If connected, again, it's unresponsive, like the wheel, the fn button, none of them work. jpark114 Posted January 26 Share #13 Â Posted January 26 If the reset (thumbwheel+fn buttons for 30 sec) and removing SD card do not work, you better contact Leica service... Â

I've contacted customer service, let's see how it goes. I don't think it's something I can fix. The camera is simply unresponsive to any inputs.

I've had people who switched 4 m11s until he got one that is bug free. I have had my m11 without much issue until recently (loss of photo for no reason, could be an SD card issue). But this really hit me hard. I had so much love in the design of the d, and I am even thinking about selling my m-d 262 and keep this instead. Oh well, I guess I am too naive.
Eoin Posted January 26 Share #17 Â Posted January 26 Leave it switched on with the battery out of it and also not connected to any power source for 24 hours, then try again. 1

Eoin Posted January 26 Share #20  Posted January 26 The reason being there can be components in the electronics that hold a charge. They can be stuck in a position/ loop when the power source is connected even if the camera is switched off. By removing the battery for a long period, may force these components to fully discharge and work again. I assure you it is not a joke, but at the same time I cannot guarantee this will be a solution to your problem. I’m really sorry to read of your problem, horrible experience to have with a new camera, I genuinely hope either this or Leica resolves the issue.
