Spotted this and wondered a brass black M11 would be nice.

Someone broke embargo for sure.

Why should you go with the completely outdated (and mostly unavailable) 10R BP?

Not sure I go with your description of completely outdated.  By that metric no one would buy a new MA.  Now that is completely outdated, doesn't even have a SIM card slot.

I guess it's mostly unavailable for a reason - limited number, great camera, very few people sell even for the faintly ridiculous prices currently being quoted.

Schouten Select is an interesting benchmark.  They offer Leica stuff at top prices - the reissue silver f1.2 Noctilux current on offer for EUR 87,500 is one example - but every time they advertise the M10R BP it flies off the shelf.

Maybe reliability is another reason . . .

Because it is freeze free.

One thing of many concerns, i have a m11 since it was release alongside with my m10bp, it was rock solid.. after months sold it and not long after regretting it.. get the used ones, and problem arose, no liveview .. returned it and got the camera i owned before.. used it until early of 2024 and sold it.. never look back since i still have the m10rbp

but i see the m11bp coming.. as much as i love it, the fear never fades lol, may be an excuse to not get

There has been many cosmetic releases (M11P, M11D and now M11BP) after the M11 original that had slow acceptance due to the software issues. Is Leica shortening the life cycle? 😏

The M11 original will become a collectors camera. Is the original still in production?

Collectors item? Only if the optical rangefinder goes away in the M12, otherwise no.

M11 in silver has shown as discontinued for a while; the black ones seem to be still trickling out.

With this in mind, I have a choice between the 10R BP and this new release. Wonder if I should go right ahead with this release instead of the 10R. Decisions decisions.

Well sensible sellers/stores have the M10R BP at around £8k in mint condition, the crazies (including Leica) have them at say £12k and they sit there. Once the M11 BP comes out for around the £8 to £8.5k mark I can't see why you'd go for the 10 version. I had the M10R BP and sold it for the M11P & M11M, no regrets, no freezes and a better camera, personally I can't see BP digital camera's ever significantly appreciating in value over their normal equivalents in the long term by much, there will of course always be a slight premium though given they are rarer. Equally of course at some point digital camera's will have parts/batteries that you can't replace so they become a brick, unlike an M3 BP over 60 odd years.
