Stephen, Special is as special does. I like the way the image draws the eye and suddenly you see the two figures at the end of the lane. Then there are those small details on the walls. Lovely image.

Regards,

John

Bet you had that camera/arm  rock solid into your chest.

In fact I didn't: there was no bracing of the camera in any way (sometimes I brace it by tightening it against the straps). Thanks anyway for the nice comment.

Lovely photo, Stephen.  With a little practice I was able to get comfortable with 1/4s, as in this picture at a county fair.  But I admit, it can be hit or miss for me, depending on how stable I can make myself.

before i had an leica m 10 r  with the 28 summilux. one of the reasons to switched  to the leica q3 was the IBS. with the m10r the lowest speed for me was 1/125 . i don't know why but otherwise i missed to many shots. with the Q3 i go easyly to 1/15  and because i'm a "low light" shooter  i can keep my iso most of the time under 3200

The Q3 has OIS and not IBIS of course.

I keep it on Auto.

Per Leica (via Jono):

OIS is ON:
28mm -> 1/60th or slower
43mm -> 1/100th or slower

Auto. All profiles, all cameras (Olympus/OM System, Nikon, Leica), all the time, hand-held and tripod. No issues.

Have to clarify, thank @SrMi

Auto or ON I should say. Whatever Auto means for the camera. Be it regarding to shutter speed or intended movement.

In short, I just let the stabilization do its thing...

Leica Q are the only cameras with Auto stabilization settings, aren't they? Nikon and Olympus cannot automatically turn off stabilization at higher shutter speeds.

Oh,  I guess you are right (just checked my Nikon) and I wasn't aware that the topic was only about stabilization vs shutter speed. The Oly Auto is (I think) about stabilization vs intended movement.

Yes, most manufacturers allow users to specify stabilization settings for intended camera movement (horizontal/vertical panning) or let the camera detect it (auto). Q cameras do not have that.
