Advertisement Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Hi Cogito, Take a look here Q3 43 - what will you be using for your wide option (if anything)?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

petereprice Posted September 25, 2024 Share #24 Posted September 25, 2024 I'll be pairing it with my Q3, so I have the best of both worlds. I typically shoot 24mm and 50mm professionally so these two Q3 bodies are like home for me, with the focal ranges they chose. I'm swerving away from the current Leica M11 series, and using these two Q3's as my main EDC's and Travel cameras. I'm also looking to use them for some professional applications as well, like event photography and maybe even portrait sessions. What I like the most is that they are small and durable, so it'll be the perfect pairing! 6
BWColor Posted September 25, 2024 Share #25 Posted September 25, 2024 For me, when shooting color, X2D + XCD 25mm v f/2.5, or XCD 38mm v f/2.5. would serve as my wide options. I tend to shoot wide and 43mm is longer than my normally used lenses. That said, I can see where I might travel light, such as when traveling internationally and won’t be renting a car. In that case, I would learn to use my feet where possible and train myself to use the 43mm. I like the challenge of getting out of my comfort zone. 43mm would definitely serve that purpose. adrianh Posted September 26, 2024 Share #26 Posted September 26, 2024 Either the other Q3 or the A7RV with 16-35 and maybe 70-200. I think that a A7CR with a 20-40 would also be a great suplement, I just happen to not like the small Sonys.

vitrail Posted September 26, 2024 Share #29 Posted September 26, 2024 Panasonic G9 + Lumix ou Olympus 7/14 ou PanaLeica 8/18 ou 12 mm.
tangfj Posted September 26, 2024 Share #30 Posted September 26, 2024 IMO a D-Lux 8 would pair nicely with the Q3 43... or a m4/3 camera like mentioned above... something like an E-P7 with 14mm Panasonic which would be about the same size as a D-Lux 8.
tangosix Posted September 26, 2024 Share #31 Posted September 26, 2024 I was using Nikon for these wide scenarios. After a late night of mixing up chargers, or cards, or just mixing up the menu systems under stress ... I sold the Nikon off and focused on the Leica ecosystem. Simplifying has made projects more enjoyable.
Archiver Posted September 27, 2024 Share #32 Posted September 27, 2024 If I were to use a Q43, this implies that stills are primary, and video is of secondary importance. The Q43 doesn't seem like a slouch for video, but it still isn't like a Panasonic S5 or S1H for overall video quality and flexibility. That being the case, the wide angle option would be something fairly small, preferably not much bigger than a Q43 itself. - Panasonic GX85 + PL 12mm f1.4, Olympus 12mm f2, or PL 9mm f1.7 - Panasonic S9 with 24mm f1.8 - Leica M9 with Elmarit 28 asph - original Leica Q
davidnvh Posted September 27, 2024 Share #33 Posted September 27, 2024 An M body with 21/28 of course 😀 I think this 43 pairs really well with a Monochrom or film body.

Interesting POV, and I agree. I find that I really love the 28mm in Monochrom on my Q2M, but feel like when it comes to color, I really connect more with the 35-50mm view. So the Q3 43 and Q2M should pair nicely for me.

fotografr Posted September 27, 2024 Share #36 Posted September 27, 2024 Every time Leica release a new camera, the amount of GAS on this forum could fill the Goodyear blimp. The vast majority of our imaging these days is for web posting and viewing--not gallery exhibitions or 20x30 prints for our walls. For most people the Q3 43 is already overkill, but if you have one and need a good wide option for travel, something inexpensive, small and light like the D-Lux 8 will suffice nicely and keep your load manageable. Just learn to shoot at ISO 1600 or below (the way we did with film). The IQ of that camera is great, and I say that as a retired pro with 45 years experience. 6
lencap Posted October 10, 2024 Share #37 Posted October 10, 2024 If you already have the SL3 I’d consider the Panasonic 20-60 zoom. I use it in my SL2-S for occasional wide shots. It’s not a perfect lens, but very lightweight, easy to carry in a pocket, and widely available for less than the sales tax on any Leica lens. I’ve also used my iPhone 14 Pro - set to 48mb setting. It’s far better than I expected for an occasional shot and always in my pocket, and using the Halide Pro Camera app it opens up access to many more iPhone settings. ellisson Posted October 10, 2024 Share #39 Posted October 10, 2024 I'm planning to add the Q3 43. Likely will sell my App-summicron 50mm M lens or another lens I really don't much use, the Leica Summilux-R 80mm lens to cover much of the cost of the Q3 43. I really enjoy the Q3 28, so pairing it with the Q3 43 would be my ideal kit. Easy to go from one to the other; take one or both on my travels and outings. Two of the finest lenses and similar operation.
LocalHero1953 Posted October 30, 2024 Share #40 Posted October 30, 2024 SL2-S plus VE 24-90SL. Or, for wider still, SEM 18mm. I have these already. For travel, iPhone 13.
