I am so happy to see that you lost our first discussion.

I’ve not lost it. As I pointed out to another poster, There are two simple but very concepts:

1) Does/will the camera exist?

2) Why does the camera exist?

I have no interest in the first question, and will wait for Leica to announce it or not.

The second question - I simply don’t see the point of the “43” and wonder why Leica bothered.

The point is to quiet many forum members complaining that 28mm is too wide for them 😄.

I am unsure whether I would take 28 or 43 when traveling, but the reactions to the 43 rumor indicate great demand.

Anyone knew if this Q3 43 will have OIS in the lens? Regular Q3 has it with summilux 28/1.7 but I don’t see anything mentioned about OIS in this 43mm APO lens.

Let us know if you find out, lol.

Personally, I don't want the image circle of my APO lens moving around.

If it has OIS, I can always turn it off I guess.

43mm with a tiny leaf shutter will be fine without it.

And as people realize, forums like this are a small subset of all potential Leica buyers and existing owners.

I guess we will find out soon, as obviously sth is coming. Even Leica’s invite to the german stores implies this. It just doesn’t imply what will be coming….

I guess I will never travel without my Q3 28.

😃 absolutely. 50mm was never my choice as a single lens when teavelling. 28 is much better for me.

Here I have maybe to correct myself: In the 60ies and 70ies my Voigtländer Camera had a fixed 50mm. And later when I started with Canon DSLR I had big problems with anything else than 50mm. Later then when I bought my first Leica M I biught a 28mm as my first M lens.

I look forward to seeing the mtf of the lens and how it compares to SL apo’s and m apo’s…

Robb

With the 43 APO lens and sensor being a matched set, it will indeed be interesting. The SL sensors have to accommodate so many focal lengths, but the Q43 sensor is customized for one lens.

I think the image stabilization is going to be interesting, maybe they have optical again and decided not to mention it since there is going to be an outcry from some that miss sensor based anyhow.

Having 60MP and no stabilization at all, that would be a curious choice with the longer focal lens ....

Some MTF for those who like that sort of thing.
