As many of us, when deciding for a SL2 or SL2s, the decision was a tough one. Megapixels vs iso ability…

When I stood for this decision, I went for the 2s cause sometimes on telezooms I need high shutterspeed so a high iso is preferred.

When the SL3 came out, I decided not to buy it (plus trading in the 2s), but added a SL2 instead. The 2 series is a dreamcombo.

The SL2 combined with the SL lux is my portrait setup, where the 2s with the zooms is a great allrounder and perfect for events. 

At current secondhand prices for the 2-series are “low”, making it a super value.

Ofcourse all this is just my opinion…

The 2 series is reported to have a half stop advantage with ibis.  And the best ibis of any body I’ve tested.  

The SL2 prices, I dare say, have collapsed.  I purchased a silver body and combined with my old R glass is a very relevant camera in 2024.

The SL2-s are still great cameras, and so are the SL.

This is what I like about Leica cameras: the older cameras are still relevant even when "replaced" by newer models. See the M series.

The official specs say half a stop less but in real life I'm shooting the same speeds as the SL2. The SL3 IBIS is still great and better than most.

I'm keeping my SL2 for reproduction work and film *scanning*. High res shot is fantastic for this. And it's still an brilliant backup to the SL3's. I love being able to program the rear click dial and that camera works exactly how I want a camera too.

SL2 is an insane bargain with current prices. 

I've sold it twice and regretted it each time. On copy #3 because ergonomically its just the perfect camera.

For me, the SL3 is a 60mp version of the SL2-S in a more convenient package being lighter and smaller. Since I use an SL camera almost exclusively with M lenses, the SL3 was the natural choice for me.

I like both the SL2 and SL2-S. I've had both. But I always wished the SL2 had the color and high ISO performance of the SL2-S, and I always wished the SL2-S had the resolution of the SL2. SL3 is the best of both for my purposes.

I’m three deep on SL2-S bodies and have another on the way (weddings) and after trying all the SLs and the most recent M cameras, IMO the SL2-S is the best digital camera Leica’s ever made.

I am also in the group of those who added an SL2S after the launch of the SL3.  The two combined do all that I need. I knew it would be hard for them to improve upon the cameras, but after handling the SL3 it seemed to be a big step back in terms of interface and ergonomics (have not handled the files, so cannot comment on that), so I literally bought a mint SL2S on the spot. I should have waited a bit more to get a better deal, but either way I am very happy with the camera. The SL2 is one of the top three Leica's I have ever had along with the S006 and M9. Weirdly, I put all of them even over the film M's I have had, because they have been more reliable. My M7 and MP were both great cameras, but had lots of little faults. The SL2 in particular has had zero in four years of professional work.

I just took advantage of the SL2-S "sale".  I wonder if this is a portent of an SL3-S.

I use the SL601 and have been looking at the SL3 and wanted to wait for an SL3-P (with the CAI chip, I took the name from the M11-P) because the “want to have” effect just didn't come up immediately at the dealer.
Last week, however, Leica Wetzlar sold 15 SL2 bodies for €2,700, so I couldn't say no and got the SL2 for what I consider to be a good price and can now relax and wait for an SL4 or something. With IBIS and the 47Mp I'm well equipped. And the lenses are and remain the decisive factor ...

Damn! I’m a month too late. Paid full price for mine. I did get the free extra battery, the Leica M–L adapter and screen cover but even those items are included with the $1000 off deal.
